No matter what Mitch McConnell says he loves Pork!- who didn't know that?

quote:
McConnell, a member of the Appropriations Committee, is a longtime defender of earmarking. The Kentucky Republican has requested 158 solo earmarks amounting to a cost of $927,872,000 over the past two years, according to data provided by LegiStorm.

During a recent appearance on CBS' "Face the Nation," McConnell expressed doubt over the ability of an earmark ban to advance spending reduction initiatives.

"The problem is, it doesn't save any money," explained the Senate leader. "What we really need to do is to concentrate on reducing spending and reducing debt. And this debate doesn't save any money, which is why it is kind of exasperating to some of us who really want to cut spending."

Mitch is the Prince of Tides when it comes to earmarks. Billions of Pulled Pork sandwiches are on the Kentucky Senator's plate.

GOP's Top Tax Guy: Republicans Will Block Permanent Middle-Class Tax Cut

Republicans remain intent on holding tax relief for middle class families hostage.

quote:

Nov 16

The Republicans' top tax guy in the House threatened in the clearest possible terms today that he and the rest of the GOP would vote to block any tax cut for the middle class during the lame duck session unless tax cuts for the wealthy are extended for the same period of time.

In a policy speech at the business-friendly Tax Council today, incoming Ways and Means Committee chairman David Camp called the Democratic plan for tax cuts -- a permanent tax cut extension for all income up to $200,000, and a temporary extension for income above that level -- "a terrible idea and a total nonstarter."

"We would be foolish to fall for it," Camp said.

Now, everybody knows what's going on here. Republicans have been clear for months that their long term goal is to make sure all of these rates are extended permanently. But that means they don't want to have a fight in two or three years in which they side with the wealthiest two percent of the country against the Democrats. That's a losing fight, and terrible politics.

But they can't really come out and say that. If you ask a Republican member about this "decoupling" idea, the most common response you'll get is that it's a recipe for future tax increases. The implication is clear -- but good luck getting a more candid explanation.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
"According to McConnell, he will try to lead Republicans to block the continuation of middle-class tax cuts -- which would result in every single middle-class family paying more taxes next year -- unless large additional tax cuts for the wealthiest Americans are also added. Instead of working to pass middle-class tax cuts that everyone should agree upon, McConnell is urging his Republican Senate colleagues to continue to follow his strategy of obstruction and gridlock that hurts American families......
McConnell even boasted "That's a debate we're happy to have," adding, "That's the kind of debate that unifies my caucus." It's also noteworthy that even after Boehner's concession that blocking middle-class tax relief would be the wrong thing to do, other House Republicans, including Boehner's second-in-command Eric Cantor and House Republican Conference Chair Mike Pence, continued to say they would do their best to do so."
Once again, the Republicans show no loyalty to the people of America, only to the fat cats they represent.
Yep, let the O'Bomber tax rates go into effect for the middle class on January 1, 2011.
Notice, it will be the O'Bomber/Pee-Lousy/Reid tax increases.
The Three Stooges had 2 years..The House, The Senate and the White House....to extend the Bush tax cuts and utterly failed to take the issue up with legislation.
So now, The Three Stooges say extending the Bush tax cuts to those who already pay more than 40% of all income taxes is too expensive.
Let's see what's too expensive.
Tax cut extensions for the rest of income tax payers would cost $3 Trillion, 250 Billion dollars over 10 years.
Tax cut extensions for the so called rich would cost $750 Billion over 10 years.
It's indesputable, tax cuts for the so called middle class are just too expensive...when compared to tax cuts for those already paying more than 40% of all income taxes.
The real truth is that denying tax cut extensions will hit those who are the jobs produces in America...who file their income taxes as Sub Chapter S corporations and pay taxes on their business activities as "ordinary income".
Leftists, who understand nothing about business think small business owners who have a gross income of $400,000 are rich. Not so. Out of that $400,000 there's business expenses; salaries, rent, utilities, materials, business loans and a host of other expenses.
About 70% small business owners file income taxes as Sub Chapter S Corporations. Those are the very people who create most of the new jobs in America...and they're the very people in the gun sights of Marxist Socialists like O'Bomber and his Socialist moron comrades in the Congress.
So, either make the Bush tax cuts permanent for all Americans...or for no Americans at all.
It will solely be on Republicans back if taxes go up for everyone, so they should just let the tax cuts expire, and Obama should only sign a tax bill that offers the middle class and below relief. I don't think Republicans would really fare well in this game of chicken.
Republicans have more middle class constituents than they do rich ones. If they want to keep their job, they should do what's right for the majority of their constituents.
Millionaires to Obama: Tax us
By Rachel Rose Hartman
Anti-tax activists everywhere have been loudly arguing for an extension of George W. Bush-era tax cuts for the wealthiest Americans in the United States. Now a group of millionaires is arguing the opposite.
More than 40 of the nation's millionaires have joined Patriotic Millionaires for Fiscal Strength to ask President Obama to discontinue the tax breaks established for them during the Bush administration, as Salon reports.
"For the fiscal health of our nation and the well-being of our fellow citizens, we ask that you allow tax cuts on incomes over $1,000,000 to expire at the end of this year as scheduled," their website states. "We make this request as loyal citizens who now or in the past earned an income of $1,000,000 per year or more."
The group includes many big-time Democratic donors such as Gail Furman, trial lawyer Guy Saperstein and Ben Cohen of Ben & Jerry's ice cream (pictured). The list remains open to millionaires who want to sign on.
Republicans in Congress argue that a failure to extend tax cuts for individuals making over $250,000 would be detrimental to the economy. "It's a massive tax increase," Minnesota GOP Rep. Michele Bachmann said this week on ABC's "Good Morning America." "And it's on the people who are the job creators."
Most Democrats in Congress are opposed to extending cuts for the wealthiest Americans--but they're treading carefully about how to proceed with the issue.
The president has repeatedly stated his support for extending Bush-era cuts for the middle class, but Democrats are divided over whether to vote only on middle-class cuts or to include a vote on cuts for those making $250,000. It doesn't appear that the Senate can muster the votes to pass a measure that would extend only middle-class cuts.
"I think there's a reality here, which is that while it might be best to continue the middle-class tax cuts and raise taxes on higher-income people, the votes are not there to do that," Sen. Joe Lieberman (I-Conn.) told the Washington Post.
Democrats already chose to delay the tax cut issue until after the Nov. 2 election. And on Thursday, Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid (D-Nev.) and other leaders indicated the party will postpone action on tax-cut extensions until after the Thanksgiving break.
Republicans continue to call for immediate action, saying they fear business owners will be less likely to hire workers and spend money as they remain uncertain about future tax liabilities.
The O'Bomber/Pee-Lousy/Reid tax increases go into effect on January 1, 2011.
Let's see how the voting public reacts to having their taxes raised by the 3 Stooges who have had control of the House of Representatives, the Senate and the White House.
Let's see how the voting public reacts to the news small businesses which are the jobs creators in America are being punished with tax increases by the 3 Stooges for being successful.
Here's a novel idea for those so called millionaires who believe they're under taxed.
Sit yourselves right down at your desks and write Uncle Sam a nice fat check. The same goes for any one else who believes they're under taxed. Uncle Sam is always open to receive contributions.
typical nonlogic at operation here. the dems had 2 years to enact what the REPUBS DEMANDED right? and the fact that they didn't agree to the opposition's DEMANDS - or push through legislation without any republican support - means it is their fault that everyone's taxes go up, right?
at the same time i am sure the republicans will somehow find a way to take credit for the success of GM which they said would never happen and decried all measures taken to save it.
no shame seems t o be the name of the game. and now, to PROVE they have no shame, they will do their very best to CRUCIFY the man they think the voting public sees as a messiah.
apparently the republicans think that because they won ONE house that it is now okay for THEM to operate against the will of the people. to run the country without the executive branch or the other house.
to operate a society where the rich get everything they ask for because "we need them to provide jobs" BULL DUNG DEARIE.
without the rich holding the doors shut there would be a lot more businesses operating, on a smaller level perhaps, but to the benefit of a greater portion of t he populace. we are carving a nice little western version of saudi arabia here.
1% of 50 grand is $500! so in order to save yourself 500 a year (assuming one is making 300K) it is imperative to shoot yourself in the foot? to turn US workers into the equivalent of paki lackeys working for pennies an hour?
you may die before the whole thing falls down, jwhop, but you can go knowing that you helped rob your children and grandchildren of any kind of lifestyle at all...that is unless you are actually one of the VERY rich and have trust funds set up for them abroad??
NO ONE IS TAXED ON THEIR GROSS INCOME. the woman i work for has written off almost every penny of her personal living costs for the past 30 years. and it was only in 07, after all those lovely republican tax cuts, that she has come to having to trim her sails. why is that? nothing obama has done so far has affected her in terms of higher taxes.
the fact is that giving corporations tax breaks for moving abroad has KILLED the small businessman in this country and BEFORE obama ever got to the white house.
and please let us see obama either stand up and lead or publicly quit and out whoever is sitting on his hands.
