What a fantastic world you must live in, Jwhop. Where you can pronounce victory even after getting slapped down.

quote:
The entire premise of this thread is fatally flawed..."Outlook for 2011 economy is brightening".

NO, IT DIDN'T AND IT'S STILL NOT!

That's untrue. Everyone knows it. We're not in recession, nor have we been in how many years now? We've been in danger of it from Republicans refusal to do their jobs in the House, but we've managed to keep growing the economy despite Republican attempts at sabotaging it. Sure, stimulus would be nice, and would kickstart the economy, but that's not going to happen, so you Republicans can deal with the bed you made for us.

quote:
It certainly was "WRONG" to say the heaviest job losses have been government jobs..some federal....

Wrong again. Yes, we both know you left out the state and local governments which Cat included, but beyond that...her premise was completely fine, and completely founded if you have your head in the real world:

Can the ongoing US labor market weakness be traced to the biggest loss of government jobs since WWII? - American Enterprise Institute
Government job cuts create a historically slow recession recovery - Washington TIMES
A Record Decline in Government Jobs: Implications for the Economy and America's Workforce - Brookings Institute

Cat knows what's up. You, on the other hand, not so much.

Has anyone included the retiring population in their figures? There is now a significantly higher portion of the country bo longer working because they have retired. This is hardly an indication of a faltering economy, quite the opposite...are you currently "employed", jwhop?

Or is that another "invisible" question, likewwhwther you have used your medicare yet?

The graph shows Fed jobs dropping steadily since the census, and lower than Bush II's last years for some time now.

Wrong again acoustic.

How do you manage to always be wrong. It must be your "gift".

Clearly, the federal workforce has expanded under O'Bomber...not contracted.

What is it that you don't understand about the Labor workforce participation rate Catalina/katatonic?

Workforce participation is going down..not up.

Those who have retired are not counted in the Labor Workforce Participation rate. Those who have given up on finding a job in the O'Bomber economy are not counted either.

This is not rocket science Catalina/katatonic so why don't you understand it?

"As to whether the rest of the statement is true..."many state and local", I'm going to let you substantiate that remark with a credible source with emphasis on "HEAVIEST JOB LOSSES"...as compared to private sector job losses."

Still waiting Catalina/katatonic...and the clock is ticking.

"That's untrue. Everyone knows it. We're not in recession, nor have we been in how many years now?"...acoustic

You must be nuts acoustic. Basing your nonsense and drivel on "feelings" and future projections of economic activity..(global) by "fund managers"..that "the American economy is brightening".

The real economic numbers are grim and those numbers are there for anyone to see...providing they have the intellect to open their eyes and see them.

Your little Marxist Messiah is a total failure in every metric of presidential governance. O'Bomber and his little band of Marxist Socialist Progressive comrades ARE the reason the economic outlook is not brightening. The Dud Regime!

Jwhop, I see a lot of nonsense. I don't see anywhere that you explain your way out of the hole you've dug for yourself.

You're asking Cat for more info, but I just gave you three separate articles indicating the troubles in the economy that are due to public sector job loss.

We're not in a recession. That's not based on "feelings" or future projections of economic activity. That's based on measurements of the economy that have already transpired.

Anyone with intellect and eyes to see can see that Republicans threaten the economy far more than Democrats right now. Austerity measures, depending on how far they go, are certainly more likely to bring about an economic downturn than the opposite. The effect of the shutdown will be measured next quarter. That will be on Republican hands.
