Rep. Allen West vs. Quran-wielding CAIR exec
'I went to Muslim countries to defend the freedom of Muslim people'

One of the members of the Class of 2010 in the U.S. House of Representatives has revealed he has little patience for the politically correct arguments that Islam is, in fact, a religion of peace and nonaggression.

"Don't try to blow sunshine up my butt," U.S. Rep. Allen West, R-Fla., warned a member of a town hall meeting audience who had challenged him to identify a single verse in the Quran that tells Muslims to attack America.

The comments came earlier this week at Pompano Beach, Fla., during a question-and-answer time at his meeting. A questioner identified by the Palm Beach Post as Nezar Hamze, executive director for a branch of the Council for American Islamic Relations, confronted West, demanding that he point out where in the Quran are the orders for Muslims to attack America.

"You recently told the Marines that the terrorists that attacked the United States, the people that are attacking America, are following Islam, and they are following the instructions of the Quran," he said.

"So, a very simply question. I'm not going to take a lot of your time. Can you show me one verse in this Quran where it says to attack America, attack Americans, or attack innocent people?" he said.

West noted the Quran was written in the 8th or 9th centuries and America didn't exist at the time, but noted, "The truth is out there." He cited the multiple Quranic references to attack and kill "infidels."

He started listing a series of battles before he was drowned out by applause and cheering from the audience.

"It (Islam) became violent," West continued when the cheering died down. "Something happened when Mohammed enacted the Isra, and he left Mecca and went out to Medina. It became violent. You explain it to me.

"Maj. Hasan was shouting allahu akbar. The people that flew those planes … were shouting allahu akbar. I've been on the battlefield my friend," he said.

"Don't try to blow sunshine up my butt and tell me…..," he said, to more applause.

The Muslim activist responded, "I'm ashamed to be here with all of these people when you attack Islam, you attack…"

An audience member interrupted with, "You attacked us!"

West said, "I went to Muslim countries to try to defend the freedom of Muslim people. Don't come up here to try to criticize me. Put the microphone down and go home."

West's references were to Maj. Nidal Hasan, who is accused of shooting and killing more than a dozen members of the U.S. military at Fort Hood, as well as the terrorists who hijacked jets on Sept. 11, 2001, and flew them into the World Trade Center towers and the Pentagon, killing almost 3,000.

Those commenting on the Shark-Tank.net site were more than enthusiastic about West's response.

"You tell 'em Allen!" said one. "You are a true patriot!"

Added another, "Talk about a keeper!! Go West!! This is EXACTLY the kind of straight talking that is needed."

"It was a great opportunity to see a polished professional man lay out America's need to be alert to our enemies within," said a third.

Added Beverly Perlson, of The Band of Mothers, "When Muslims come out and denounce stoning women and babies, when Muslims come [out] and denounce beating women and babies, when Muslims come and denounce honor killings, and so many other sordid and cruel Muslim practices, until then, don't expect Americans to embrace Muslims. Your way of life goes against everything that is beautiful and free about this great country America! Americans will not tolerate child abuse and beating and stoning women and children!!!"

"Go West for POTUS," said another.

PostonPolitics.com, reported West actually addressed that issue.

"We can't have leadership by a cult of personality. I have to prove myself. I have to prove myself as an American statesman, a capable legislator," West said. "Everyone knows how I feel about this country. But there are some things that I have to learn about the inner workings and machinations of Washington, D.C., so that I can be an effective leader."

On that blog's comment page was more support for West:

* "This man is pure awsomeness! (sic)," said Tom B.

* "2012 can't come fast enough. Run Allen Run," said constitution101.

* "A CAIR terrorism-supporting Islamofascist trys to intimidate an American who knows all about fascist Islam with a grade school stunt. Pure Gold," said February 22.

As WND reported in 2003, West was threatened with court-martial for tactics he used to flush out information from an uncooperative Iraqi policeman. Threatening to kill the Iraqi if he didn't talk, West fired a pistol near the policeman's head, producing an immediate flood of information that purportedly led to the arrest of two insurgents and cessation of attacks on West's 4th Infantry Division battalion.

In a 2008 interview with WND, West said his 2003 ordeal should tell voters what kind of a lawmaker he would be, particularly when it comes to issues of defense.

"If you're a bad guy, and you try to get between me and the safety and lives of American citizens, you're going to lose," West said.

Army prosecutors charged West with aggravated assault, and he faced the possibility of up to eight years in prison. At a hearing, West was asked by his defense attorney if he would do it again.

"If it's about the lives of my men and their safety, I'd go through hell with a gasoline can," he said.

West eventually accepted a nonjudicial punishment and the forfeiture of two months' pay. He retired from the military and moved with his wife, Angela, and two young daughters to Broward County, Florida, where he taught high school. He served in Afghanistan as an adviser to the Afghan army until November 2007.

yet another shining example of how neither side is even trying to hear the other.

when a muslim asks for references in the quran, west replies that the men flying the 9/11(?) planes were shouting the same islamic phrase as the man present at the meeting...dare i ask how the hell does he know what those pilots were shouting? answer: he doesn't.

when the man continues to protest this blanket assessment of islam and muslims someone in the audience says "YOU attacked us!" as if because he is muslim he must have been in on, behind, or in favour of the attacks. this is ridiculous and blatant - isn't it?

and west assumes that because the enemy he met were muslims that he knows all about islam and all muslims...again more than a little far fetched.

shall i say that because all the muslims i have known were cultured, peaceful people, that we have no muslim enemies? wouldn't that be ludicrous?

Well kat,

it would seem that even you are guilty of your own assessment that "neither side is even trying to hear the other".

Your hasty paraphrasing bears a lot of evidence of your misunderstanding.

For one, there is actual recorded evidence of the hijackers on Flight 93 shouting the Takbir. All it takes is to know that this happened on one plane to make this statement true.

Congressman West may not understand everything about Islam, but what he does understand is that silence only condones those situations we oppose. If you are going to be compassionate about the situations of other people, there are moments that call for the open and honest speaking that Congressman West has done.

When you are as toughened by experience as he is, you speak with the validity of that experience. Do you honestly think that he was accusing the man at the meeting of being complicit in any terrorist attacks? Don't be absurd!

Congressman West lost patience because of the lack of respect that keeps coming from people like the man at this meeting that want to play games. Let's not pretend that Islam has nothing to do with the problem at hand. Why is it that westerners can't bring this up without being accused of Islamophobia or of desiring to weed the religion out of existence?

It is obviously not as simple as that. There are a growing number of Americans who are legitimately concerned about this subject and just because we clap when someone defends our position doesn't make us out to be fascists, nationalists, or whatever helps to distract you from the real issue.

An audience member interrupted with, "You attacked us!"

this i referred to. i did not suggest that west said it. i am not saying that west is entirely wrong and thank you for your corrections.

i was merely pointing out that it is a common leap from "muslims attacked us" to "all muslims want us dead" and it was made right there in that meeting.

i had forgotten there were cell phones on 93 so i suppose it is possible that is where west got that quote from, though i don't remember hearing about it and what is heard in the background over a cell is usually more than a little UNCLEAR...

i don't think it is playing games to ask that muslims in general not be classified as the enemy. or characterized as bloodthirsty assassins just looking for an infidel to kill. it is basically crucial to peace loving muslims that they NOT be so characterized.

how would you like it if i said that everyone who sticks up for the wars in the middle east is just out to kill all muslims? there are plenty who believe THAT too.

9/11 was an inside job. It was a controlled demolition. So no, Muslims did NOT attack the U.S.

To quote myself "Keep eating what you are being fed. I'm sure it's for your own good and for your own safety."

so just wondering if anyone has ever been able to explain how those cell phones on 93 operated so far out of "range"??? lotsa probs with that quote really...in that lots of people swear those taped calls HAD to be faked. which puts the "quote" back in the range of SPECULATION...of course for those who believe everything they're told, or who take advantage of lack of evidence, this won't be an issue. which is west d'you think??

As a Muslim I can assert that a vast majority of American people are far more tolerant of Muslims than Muslims in Islamic countries are tolerant of people of other faiths.

Muslims have let Islam down, have let the Quran down.

We did not condemn the 9-11 attack fast enough, does not matter that it was an inside job. We did not praise the fire fighting martyrs, our hatred for Israel blinded us to the sorrow of ordinary Americans who have no clue to the Black Ops for Oil done by Masonic Organizations pulling the strings.

Yes, 9-11 was an inside job. The only way a Saudi Arab can hit a high rise on a hijacked plane is if he was sincerely tying to miss it. That is the competence level of Saudi Arabs. Does anyone know of a single high technology patent by a Saudi Arab? Any Nobel Prize winners who are Saudi Arab? Any weapon manufactured by them? Any fertilizer? Any paint or even scissor? Any contribution to genetic research, humanities, Mathematics, Computer Chips, Motors or Lasers? ZILCH.

Rashad Khalifa, a "Quran Alone" proponent proved long back how American people follow the Spirit of Quran more than Arabs. He was stabbed to death by a Wahhabi Arab. Yes, the Wahabbis do know the art of stabbing.

The big evil pulling the strings in Washington is hurting ordinary Americans as much as the Arabs on the street. For every Iraqi bystander blown away, there is an Autistic American baby created thanks to multiple poisonous "Big Pharma" vaccinations forced onto an infant.
For every Palestinian starving in Gaza thanks to Israel's Hitlerian Blockade, there is an innocent American diagnosed with Cancer thanks to years of acidic diet, a combination of high fructose corn syrup, high white sugar refined products, Monsanto GM Corn, Aspartame, Soy and Hormone treated meat.

For every innocent who has not been compensated after being illegally held in Gitmo or who got abused in Abu Ghraib, the Black Ops eliminates a Chandra Levy or ordinary shoppers in a sacrificial ritual using an MK Ultra programmed slave who shoots like crazy. Not one intelligent man is given media space to objectively investigate these killings.

Americans and Muslims are being equally victimized by dark powers. Let us not fall into their trap by hating each other. These are times where we must be more united than ever.

I would request Muslims to hug any and every American who verbally hates them. They are very few, and even they do not mean it, they have been emotionally manipulated.

And CAIR sucks. Totally. Non Muslims are not going to Hell, you Salafi/Wahabi sheeple!

POSTED BY NosiS:

quote:
West said, "I went to Muslim countries to try to defend the freedom of Muslim people.

freedom? what type of freedom?

the freedom people choose or the freedom people are given?

???

if the US embody what freedom is about, then I don't want anyone to die for me to get this so called freedom.

freedom to be a consumer? to choose between thousands of brands? where is my power?

I live in europe, where freedom is also a concept we believe in. I wonder if everyone means the same things when they talk about freedom. here, as much as in your country btw.

it's funny though, there is one big difference between your country and europe. your views of the arab world (and I presume we are mainly talking here about the arabs, and the arab world which happens to be muslim, and not about the muslim world which spreads from africa to asia to indonesia) anyway, from a US perspective, the arab world seems to be an strange and dangerous place where white and blacks (or judeo-christians exactly) go to die while in europe we still see it as a place to go as tourists. well at least until the recent historical changes towards democracy, which were peaceful in tunisia and egypt though. something to be noted.

how many countries can pride themselves of having done a PEACEFUL REVOLUTION? and they did it by themselves, without the help of hypocrits well wisher like the Allen West the article mentions

Freedom pire....as in freedom from being murdered, raped or tortured by the genocidal murderous dictator and friend of Socialists everywhere...Saddam Hussein.

Freedom pire...as in the option to vote to chose their own form of government, their own constitution and to elect their choice of Iraqi citizens to represent them.

Freedom pire...as in making their own choices about where to work and what to buy with their own money.

Leftists do like to blither, blather, bloviate and bullshiiit about freedom but when you see whom they support with their rhetoric and protest marches you realize they don't mean a word of it.

Leftists have supported the likes of Lenin, Stalin, Ho, Mao, Hitler, Mussolini, Pol Pot, Hussein, Kim Sung Il and still support Kim Jong Il, Castro, Chavez and Ortega.

Leftist blathering rhetoric about freedom is just so much hot gas escaping through their lower orifice.

Freedom is something that we are all born with jwhop. It is not something that we give to others (i.e America giving to the Iraqis).

Saddam Hussein should not have been in power and even though I am glad he was overthrown, he should have been by the Iraqi people not by the American gov't. IF the American gov't truly believed in the freedom of the people than they should've shown it by providing aid to the Iraqi people in forms of weapons, food, and money like they support Occupied Palestine. The only thing the gov't accomplished in Iraq was their original goal of setting up a base in the Middle East.

The claims of Bin Landen being in Afghanistan should have followed the logical action of the American gov't going there and not Iraq. (This being said based on the "official story" on 9/11)

Sorry, but freedom isn't free. It's always been paid for in the blood of those who will not tolerate tyranny...including those who fought against all odds for our freedom from King George III.

You may think the natural state of humankind is freedom but through out history there have been a parade of ba$tard tyrants and thugs who attempted to control their people's every move and in some cases, thoughts as well.

Saddam Hussein was only one such ba$tard and the world is a far better place with Saddam out of it.

Sad but true.

Even though freedom is every beings right, not everyone seems to think that way, or act that way just as you have described.

jwhop are you DELIBERATELY misinterpreting what is being said, or just not noticing that NO ONE is objecting to freedom, or even fighting for it, but having it forced down the throats of other countries in the style "WE" call freedom...?

Not at all, I am Sunni but understand the reasons why Shias branched out. They are not to blame for hating Sunnis. For example, Sunnis do not say anything in public against Yazid, the one who arranged for the brutal death of Imam Hussain and then shed crocodile tears. Yet none of the Sunni Scholars who impose these thought controls, none of these hypocrites name their children Yazid.
The Karma of the early Caliphates in Middle East is still being played out.
