another wonderful example of corporate shenanigans just because they think they can..not even a nod to the future and how they are disrupting it.an acquaintance was recently telling me that it is "just rich white people" who hate monsanto because the POOR of the world NEED their dastardly frankencrops...never noticing that one of the byproducts of some of those crops is INFERTILITY...ie indirect genocide of those very POOR populations. http://wakeup-world.com/2011/10/11/indian-government-files-biopiracy-lawsuit-aga inst-monsanto/ Representing one of the most agriculturally bio-diverse nations in the world, India has become a primary target for biotechnology companies like Monsanto and Cargill to spread their genetically-modified (GM) crops into new markets. However, a recent France 24 report explains that the Indian government has decided to take an offensive approach against this attempted agricultural takeover by suing Monsanto for “biopiracy,” accusing the company of stealing India’s indigenous plants in order to re-engineer them into patented varieties. bear in mind that not long ago monsanto sued a neighbouring farmer for collecting the GMO seeds that had infiltrated his crops.. karma? http://wakeup-world.com/2011/11/17/percy-schmeiser-the-man-who-beat-monsanto/ IP: Logged |

bad news re monsanto and the organic coalition http://rickthehealthsleuth.blogspot.com/2011/01/whole-foods-sells-out-to-monsanto.html?spref=fb i am going to be FORCED to grow my own. which means moving. though happily my local govt is GMO intolerant, apparently not even wholefoods whose "reputation depends on it" can be bothered to fight monsanto anymore. those puny little "socialist gulags" in europe have managed to ban GMOs, why can't we? http://www.examiner.com/green-culture-in-mankato/what-countries-have-banned-gmo-crops apparently monsanto went through the european version of the supreme court to tell INDIVIDUAL countries they did not have the RIGHT to ban gmos. however MANY countries there have either overridden that decision or ignored it. are we back to "mutate or die"? it is the insistence by monsanto and its satellite governing bodies (like the FDA) that LABELLING not give away the GMO status of foods that is most pernicious. the attempt to HOODWINK the public, who do not want these largely untested crops taking over the world, which they are increasingly in danger of doing. the article above is interesting in its examination of the various countries' attempts to slow the takeover, and the effects of these crops where they have been given a foothold. once again california may lead the country where no one else has tried...certainly not our government, whose ambassadors to europe (as shared by wikileaks) have been doing overtime for years trying to convince them frankenfoods, untested and untrusted by billions the world over, are good for business.A Simple Proposition for California in 2012 The California Right to Know Genetically Engineered Food Act is simple: The initiative would simply require food sold in retail outlets to be labeled if it contains genetically engineered ingredients. Download and read the initiative that was submitted to the State Attorney General: The California Right to Know Genetically Engineered Food Act of 2012 (.pdf) updated Dec, 2011 in california we can rewrite the state constitution, and certainly have referenda regularly, with our vote. anyone in cali who wants to hawk petitions to get this on the ballot DESPITE our fearless leaders (bush and obama have BOTH put the monsanto fox michael taylor in the FDA chicken coop) here is the site re the petition and the movement to oust or at least EXPOSE gmos with labelling. after which perhaps they will pull out of the us with their tail between their legs too.
apparently recent polls show that 93% of people here want these labels. and more than 60% would not BUY those foods if they knew they were there... http://labelgmo.org/ and shura, i am sure there are plenty of equally interested people where you are? IP: Logged |

http://www.gmofilm.com/ apparently the haitians were not interested in replanting with GMO seeds that were sent to them after the quake there. they preferred to be hungry to eating frankenfoods and risking genocide by food.... why are we americans so blase when we still have so much choice?
