Socialism may or may not work for a while, but it can never work with the US. We may have some social policies, butthe US is just too large for socialism to remotely work. We must be doing something right; countries fall long before the longevity of the US. Our stamina is unparalleled.IP: Logged |

And before the criticisms come rolling in--by large I don't mean land mass or population. I refer to the large capitalist machine that is the US. ------------------ "Never mentally imagine for another that which you would not want to experience for yourself, since the mental image you send out inevitably comes back to you." There's also a strong tendency to more or less equate the said POTUS (or candidate) as the Christ (who can do no evil) or Antichrist (can do no good), or at least a JFK vs. some infamous tyrant. It seems other countries have a far more realistic attitude about their political leaders than we Americans do about ours.
It's because of your political system, it grants your leader unparalleled power. No, seriously, it's unparalleled. Our PM cannot act unilaterally the way the president can just go about vetoing everything. He's the head of a PARTY, but you don't vote him in directly. I think this has promoted the Christ-like status the POTUS has.

our stamina unparallelled? the roman empire lasted what? 400 years? the british as well. and the egyptians? the chinese dynasties? we are adolescents on the scene of those longlived entities.we have lasted longer than any continuous government in the last...200 years, yes. that is basically looking at history from your own personal point of reference, disregarding all that went before...
