I'm in college. It's about 50/50. In fact, whole departments are conservative (criminal justice, for example).

Joan, you call blindly following the Global Warming cult leaders without so much as questioning the lack of evidence "thinking"? Haha! The conservatives are the true thinkers. They don't blindly accept what some nutjobs say and research the facts instead. And the money analogy clearly applies to the liberals duping the masses and raking in billions in the Green Movement (they don't call it green for nothin').

LOL. Well Randall, we will just agree to disagree. We are assessing the situation from different conceptual platforms. It's all good though. Having different opinions makes the world a lot more interesting.

Yes, we shall. But liberals care far more about money than conservatives--at least on the political side of things they do. Environmentalism is about nothing but control, power, and money. The duped masses may care about Mother Earth, but the leaders only shear the sheep and laugh all the way to the bank.

And this ^ is relative to each university. I attended college in New York City and there wasn't a conservative for miles. However, there may have been closet conservatives, to ashamed to reveal their identities I suppose. Those ones could be pretty elusive when discussing politics.

Okey dokey Randall. Either one could in theory be considered sheep, both liberals and conservatives. Being good boys and girls and doing what they're told. There are con artists in our national political playground. But are they Liberals? Maybe a few. Yet from what Ive seen, it seems to be the other way around. Then again we all perceive things differently.

Environmentalism is all about control? Right...and religion is about what? Baking cup cakes? All of these politicians have their tools and strategies. But environmentalism is a movement in itself separate from politics even though it does occassionally become a platform for political discourse. There's nothing wrong with wanting to make a difference in the world. Politicians can spin environmentalism any way they want. Deception is what they do best.

Yeah, it would vary by university; however, the discussion was about all journalists being liberal, which, of course, isn't true. If environmentalist leaders truly cared about the Earth they would be more interested in such matters and less concerned with power and money. For example, with the Global Warming faith (since you mentioned religion), one can pollute with impunity as long as one buys the carbon credits. Gore must be really laughing hysterically behind closed doors at how easily he duped people on that. Carbon credits are a ludicrous fairy tale spin on the monster under the bed.

lol Joan, one of the reasons 'global warming' was changed to 'climate change' is due to some knuckle-dragging conservatives pointing at heavy snow as a rebuttal, not understanding that overall warming increases extremes of weather, including cold weather.

Macro-level, the places with the highest proportion of liberals are more educated and GENERALLY wealthier. The trend continues globally and also in Canada, with the more educated provinces in the east being more left-leaning than the blue-collar provinces in the west (and just like in the States, the provinces with more conservatives and fewer educated citizens also have more crime... huge income disparities promote crime, bible-thumping right-wingers will never understand this... they generally tend not to understand "cause" and "effect," hence abstinence-only education causing an increase in teen pregnancy rates wherever it lands .)

Al Gore isn't a scientist he just cites their work.

You have a problem with climate change; take it up with the most brilliant minds in the world and the thousands of climatologists who consider this a fact of common sense.

Or you can just do like the cons do and blame termites rofl.

I honestly don't understand how ANYONE could spew such drivel/nonsense. I live in Toronto. It doesn't even snow here anymore. We saved 8 million dollars this year on snow services. Europe's got all of our snow. And the number and velocity of hurricanes has grown exponentially over the last century. Like... do climate change deniers not watch the news or do they just not step outside of their homes?

Yup. I really don't understand how someone can not realize that climate change is happening. All you do is have to look at the reports coming out on world climate events, and look outside every now and again.

Either way though, climate change shouldn't be the only motivation for us to change our ways of using and producing energy.

Climate change is cyclical--as it always has been--even before man existed. Humans don't cause it; nor is it anything to be concerned about. You have been duped.

I attended college and graduate school in New York City.

I managed to have only conservative faculty advisers. One graduate adviser served under Reagan, and then became a State Official under Bush 41, Clinton, Bush 43, and also Obama (as nuclear arms special envoy to North Korea) while remaining conservative. He was Ambassador to Tunisia, the Philippines, Japan and South Korea. Another faculty adviser was Chairman and CEO of a bank. Even two of my four professors who won Nobel Prizes were Republicans.

I'm sick and tired of liberal nonsense that conservatives don't value education. I have four degrees and I earned my grades. Conservatives can be found in the most liberal of educational establishments. Yes, even Berkeley has conservatives.

In the UK, a socialist economy, the wealth and education level among conservatives far outstrips that of liberals. If you don't think the Torries fill up Oxford and Cambridge, you are deluding yourselves.

I find such insinuations terribly insulting.

randall while i tend to agree that climate change is NOT caused by humans, i don't understand how that leads to the conclusion that it's "nothing to worry about". adaptation is key, and if we can do our best to adapt that is not a bad thing is it?

i fail to understand why LIBERALS MAKING MONEY is evil and CONSERVATIVES HOARDING MONEY is just dandy. because if i complain about the koch brothers buying politicians and states through them, or moaning about how much their taxes are (despite their using every trick in the book to make them next to nothing) that's all natural and good, people are supposed to be "ME FIRST" when it comes to money...

but far and above changing temperatures are the dangers of pollution through the very same energy sources the climate changers are trying to limit.

fukishima is still very much with us, and radiation levels ACROSS THE COUNTRY and world are being registered from it...what that will do to us we don't yet know, but the kelp in SF bay is reading very dangerous now...

and the gulf, so miraculously "cleaned up by bacteria" is full of mutated species, reproductive problems of several species, and aftermath health issues being suffered by people, too, in the area...

these are both disasters that could have been avoided if we didn't insist on GUZZLING OIL and energy BECAUSE WE CAN...

and the chemical corporations have created just as much havoc.

YTA, no one outlandishly said that conservatives don't value education. They mentioned a tendency, however that clearly isn't relative to EVERY conservative. Case and point with you. If you don't agree with Liberals why do you care so much about what they have to say? And why do you allow them to get so deep beneath your skin?

They [conservatives] don't like the implication that conservatives as a group are less educated, even though that is precisely what the statistics say .

And here's one on how the simple act of thinking a lot about the origins and history of one's religion/whether it makes any logical sense can promote atheism: http://www.sciencedaily.com/releases/2012/04/120426143856.htm

YTA, what do you think about leading economist James Alm's report in the Tulane Economics Working Paper Series which finds after 47 pages of dreary mathematical formulas and methodological hair-splitting testing 130 variables from 48 U.S. states, covering good and bad times from 1947 to '97, that "ultra-conservative tax cuts damage economic performance"?

He goes on to say,

quote:
Higher taxation of corporations and high-income individuals “is never significantly negative and is frequently significantly positive,” probably because taxation goes to worthy causes like education.

Today's liberals are really just classical fiscal conservatives. We want a return to the tax structure of the 1950s era under Eisenhower, the tax structure that allowed America's middle class to first emerge.

Reaganomics brought economic misery and a recession and it's only gotten worse since then. Smart people learn from their mistakes. Just sayin'!
