Romney gets raked over the coals for being rich while the rich Democrat senators et al get a pass. The Dems throw some money and cheap words at Dem causes in order to "pay" for the press to leave them alone. My blood boils from this.

Maybe it has something to do with the fact that the rich Democrat is willing to share his money? (i.e. wants to tax the s*it out of it?), while the Repub does not want to?

Personally, I kind of like Romney... whatever incarnation he is taking today. lmfao. His stances change with public opinion polls, but I like Massachusetts-era Romney.

You can't say that, Aquacheeka, as there are cheap and generous ones on both sides. It is just that the rich Dem's get a pass. That is how it is. No one can change it by talking about it.It just makes me furious.

....actually, I CAN say that, because I am talking about their fiscal stances. Obama favours a tax increase on the top 2% income earners (which would apply to him), while Romney does not. He favours tax breaks for the wealthiest citizens, just like all Republicans do.

To be fair, Obama has also been known to flip-flop on social stances with the wind. While he was a congressman he was pro-same sex marriage; as president he's pro-civil unions with "evolving" stances on SSM. That's a REGRESSION, wtf?? lol.

That's only slightly less radical a flip flop than Romney's "I abortion/now I don't" change since becoming the Republican frontrunner (from when he was governor of Massachusetts).

These men just say whatever they think the people want to hear. This isn't real, it's all a popularity contest. No one knows who these men REALLY are... except maybe for us astrology followers

I was very impressed with Romney's implementation of universal healthcare in his state, I will say that. That really impressed me. They (the RepubliCONS) probably won't let him do it on a national scale, though; that's now seen as being "the Obama thing." Really, it should be "the decent human being thing."

AQ, we are so opposite in things that it is too much for me to even begin. I appreciate your writing in response to my thread, though, but it would take too much time and energy to try to express how I see things, as it is so very different.

Some of the richest Democrats are the Global Warming theocracy. They are shearing a lot of sheep with this monumental fraud. Gore's little group is making billions!

This isn't a part of politics I pay attention to, but I think I vaguely recall that Romney has tried to portray himself as an "everyday person" (that is, "not one of the 1%"). If that's the case then I can see why he gets raked over the coals.

It's like Gore with global warming. The guy has been one of the worst politicians for the environment, and even after making An Inconvenient Truth he flies a private jet and is less environmentally conscious than George Bush (and Bush doesn't even try to be environmentally friendly, he's just trying to save a few bucks). Therefore he gets raked over the coals a hell a lot more than Republicans who do the same (at least those who don't give Democrats a free pass for everything).

Lots of politicians have affairs, sleazy sex, and even bathroom hookups, but the ones who get raked over the coals the most are those who preach "family values" (and gods help the anti-gay politician who gets caught with a gay prostitute). IIRC, Bill Clinton got mocked for his signing the VAWA because of Juanita Broaddrick as well.

In short, it's the hypocrisy or blatant posturing that makes them a target. And it sounds like this is the case of Romney.

Actually, in an effort to settle the score once and for all, someone actually counted the number of sex scandals reported on/exposed by political affiliation. Republicans outnumber Dems for sex scandals - especially GAY sex scandals - by quite an impressive margin. I half-expect an anti-SSM Republican to actually be gay in his off hours now.

Let me find you the report.
