Nope. All of society isn't owning the business. People are paying for rightful shares in a corporation. That's actually capitalism at work--and one of the reasons Socialists despise coporations so much (bcause most people can't afford to invest).

Anyone involved with the stock market is outright engaging in Socialist activity; engaging in the public ownership of a business entity.

funny that, when arguing that corporations are people, they ARE because the people own them. but when someone describes that as socialist its a big scary no-no...

It doesn't really matter that ALL of society isn't in ownership. The cornerstone of Socialism is public ownership, which is exactly what takes place with a public corporation. Average Americans aren't really priced out of participating in corporate ownership. Of course, you did say "Socialists" instead of "Americans," but I don't know who you're referring to when you talk about Socialists.
I also don't know who you're referring to when you claim Socialists hate corporations. On the off chance that you're referring to Americans, a lot of Americans are employed by corporations, so they must not "hate" them that much.

It's neither of our business, unless our capital is invested in Bain Capital. Its their perrogative to decide how to restructure the businesses in their investment portfolios. It is called Private Equity for a good reason. It is private. Not for the general public to judge or criticize. I wished I had the minimum $10 MM of risk capital to invest in a Bain Capital fund, don't you?

YTA, whether we have capital tied up in Bain or not, as part of Mitt Romney's business resume Bain will be scrutinized. There's no point as far as I can see in saying it's none of whoever's business.

No one here said it wasn't Bain prerogative to do as they please. What was said here is that there is a political message going out about Bain, and it has a good chance of connecting with voters.

it was newt who hammered romney the hardest about being a "vulture capitalist" and job destroyer, and santorum wasn't far behind. are they socialists now?

"neither of our business, unless our capital is invested in Bain Capital"

true, though those whose pensions were cancelled and jobs eliminated unless they returned for less money might have something to say about it, doncha think?

it's all very well to say "that's life, the boss runs the show" but does that mean a boss who looks out for his staff doesn't get a better result and be a better person? is profit the ONLY consideration that makes a business successful? not for everyone, by a long shot. money is great. it is not everything.
