http://www.comcast.com/homesecurity/icontrolsma/index.htm while y'all are sitting wringing your hands about the big bad government, your local broadcasting corporation has big brother just waiting to set up in your home. if comcast can change your reception and capablitites re cable by flicking a switch in the office, even fix your connection, they can surely look over your shoulder with THIS little gem. and YOU will pay for it. or many will. When I saw the ad for this service I was flabbergasted....what idiot would want Comcast with carte blanche access to their homes??You are right Kat, plenty will pay. This is coming from a person who worries that her web-cam can be accessed remotely I wonder if hackers randomly turn on web-cams to see whats out there? Yea, I'm a little sick, not to mention paranoid. Or maybe I've read a little too much Sci Fi. IP: Logged |

this would make it irrelevant whether the president has official power or not, ami. and it will give all sorts of other people access to the inside of your home and security.IP: Logged |

in any case, we functioned without the internet before it came along, and it is the responsibility of all us users to backup our contact info with more stable avenues, like phone and land addresses, etc of the people we want to be connected to...if the internet went down your life would not end, and you would actually have more freedom from scrutiny than you do right now. however if people go for this "security" app in a big way, they will be inviting surveillance of their homes and families by the mother company and the government as well, which has had access to our online and telephonic conversations for over 10 years already. i for one will not be having any cameras watching MY house until they become mandatory, which will be a long way off. this is the commercial road into your private life. as to obama trying to shut down the internet, or be able to, i have no proof that it is any more FACTUAL than the lie that he cancelled the work requirement for welfare...when all he actually did was grant, at request of the states, the ability for the states to modify that requirement in their own territories. in other words he put it more at the states' discretion as per states' rights.IP: Logged |

and then there is the google robocar...a spy machine on wheels...which looks like going ahead even though no one has investigated so many possible problems, legal and physical.this thing takes pics of everything you pass as well as tracking where you are going by GPS...google say it is "impossible" that it would ever make a mistake, like running a red light or crashing...if so it would be the first infallible machine ever. what difference does it make if the president can shut down the internet? how many millions do you think will snap up the chance to become a rolling spy machine, or to have comcast (and the govt through them) surveilling their home 24/7?IP: Logged |
