Just what was wrong with Jon Hunstman as the 2012 Republican choice for POTUS? And why is Romney really a better choice than him? IP: Logged |

The guy isn't spineless so we must have a different definition of "wimp." And Romney seems a lot more willing than Huntsman to change his positions as well saying whatever he hopes will get him the most support. Maybe you mean he wasn't angry or extreme enough? But even so then that doesn't explain Romney who had to start posturing recently as well as choose Ryan as his VP to get the more hardline to march in step as Romney was (until recently) fairly moderate and less a firebrand compared to all others beside Huntsman. The two really have a lot in common save Huntsman doesn't seem to be the embarrassment that Romney is (according to a Republican & Independent friend of mine who got me to wondering). IP: Logged |

Huntsman may stand and win in 2016. Dick Cheney 's generation has to retire and progressive conservatives have to reformulate strategy for the GOP to have the wisdom to support those like Huntsman. He would have defeated Obama but there is a conspiracy theory doing the rounds that Mittens was picked so that the GOP can lose now, and comprehensively win in 2016 and 2020. If Mittens wins now, he cannot do much other than fatten his pockets, so Democrats will win 2016 and 2020. IP: Logged |

Such a Republican cliche. That's the thing about Conservatives: they don't want to look weak. Of course, I agree that Romney doesn't project strength. Romney is about as weak a Republican candidate as I've seen (in terms of the impression he gives). Huntsman, if less Mutable, would have fared far better than Romney. Huntsman, on impression (to me), seemed sunny, which is a quality distinctly lacking in the Romney campaign. Can you imagine a nice, happy, moderate against Obama. An "All is not lost" attitude from a Republican would have played very well in this election. To take the issue of the economy, and instead of playing up outrage, played up the resiliency of the nation would have worked wonders for Conservatives. IP: Logged |
