Or does he?Snippets: According to a Gravis Marketing Ohio poll, Libertarian Party presidential nominee Gary Johnson is running with 10.6% in the Buckeye State. With Barack Obama running with 44.5% and Mitt Romney running with 37.8%, it essentially takes Romney out of the race there; particularly considering that without Johnson included 44.3% are for Romney/Ryan compared to 45.2% for Obama/Biden. Johnson has been gaining support in recent weeks and it’s no wonder considering Romney’s 44.4% un-favorability rating. While chances of Johnson winning remain rather dim, his late election bloom could be a boon for him and his party. http://www.policymic.com/articles/15532/presidential-polls-2012-gary-johnson-gains-ground-in-ohio-chipping-away-at-romney Johnson's hard-line policies are ambitious—and in many instances, radical. If elected, he said he'd abolish the IRS and enact a "fair tax," reduce federal involvement in the economy by eliminating government support for mortgage giants Fannie and Freddie Mac, reject bailouts, cut spending by revising terms for entitlement programs like Medicare and eliminate what he calls "ineffective military interventions." "People are usually voting for the lesser of two evils," explained Debbie Dean, an Ohio-based farmer and owner of Dean's Greenhouse. "But Gary Johnson is not being included in polls, and I think the American public is being prohibited [from having] a real choice." Johnson, who calls himself more socially liberal than Obama and more fiscally conservative than Romney, recognizes that the recognition problem is a huge one -- and he said as much in an interview with Fox Business Network's John Stossel on September 13. "Well, the issue for me is just being in the polls to begin with," he said. "If I were just recognized for where I was right now nationally, you know what the overwhelming reaction would be…. 'Who the hell is Gary Johnson?' and that would be a good thing." http://smallbusiness.foxbusiness.com/entrepreneurs/2012/09/26/who-in-world-is-gary-johnson-and-why-dont-know-about-him/ ------------------ We dance around the ring and suppose, but the secret sits in the middle and Knows Robert Frost IP: Logged |

unfortunately most people still hold to the "vote for a 3rd party is a wasted vote" opinion. he should also be invited to the debates, along with the other "3rd party" candidate, jill stein of the green party. whether we like them or not these people represent alternatives that could conceivably wrest the government from the control of the big biz and banking conglomerate that has been running the show for decades. I find the attitude "If you vote for someone I don't want you to vote for so therefore your vote is a waste" is condescending, rude and short-sighted.There are far more people out there that are Libertarian that don't even know it. Then there are people that are happy to vote vote for the guy they think can win even if it's not what's in their heart. I find that sad. My thought is if you want to change the world then actually do something about it. Don't keep voting for the status quo. A vote for the 'lesser of two evils' is still a vote for 'evil' so to speak (Not that I think Romney or Obama are evil - per se - I just don't like their politics). IF you want to vote your conscience and for the person that you feel is the best for the job then do so. No one has to compromise that. The argument "You're going to make so and so lose!" is not important. So what? My vote isn't designed to make someone I don't believe in win or lose. My vote represents my beliefs. IP: Logged |

yesterday jill stein and her running mate were ARRESTED for trying to be present at the debate. seems a little blatant and over the top!!democracy now is staging a redo of last night's performance with some "third party" candidates who were SHUT OUT. http://www.democracynow.org/2012/10/17/exclusive_expanding_the_debate_with_third IP: Logged |

I was quite surprised to receive a political flyer in the mail yesterday. It was from a well respected, local Rep. farmer asking for a vote for Johnson. Wonder if the old folks know about his defection....... and how many out there are defecting. ------------------ We dance around the ring and suppose, but the secret sits in the middle and Knows Robert Frost IP: Logged |

I heard about that! I saw the video clip of it too. Yeah, but I have hope when people express their rights while we still have them. It is really messed up how barely anyone else knows about the 3rd parties, and that many passively except that. It does not seem fair to me, I thought this country was about equality. But I must say, her attempt was un-successful and successful at the same time. If she wouldn't of protested (or whatever) like that...then I probably would of continued to not know of her existence. Think people should know about all of their choices. IP: Logged |

This! I'm so sick of hearing that my vote is wasted if I don't vote Democrat or Republican. I said something similar to the above, to my dad recently, and to someone else. IP: Logged |

I second that. I wrote in Ron Paul in 2008; I would have done it this year, too, but we were away from our precinct at our other house. I didn't feel like getting an absentee ballot. Johnson would have been better than Romney or Obama. IP: Logged |
