Wherever there is economic disparity and casteism, there is bound to be some lunatic revival of Hitler's ideology on some minority community which can be blamed for the problems. Luckily, we have sufficient access to media to prevent this wicked obsession from going mainstream. In India, there are hardly any Jews, so the Muslims are targeted. In some parts of India, the lower castes termed "Dalits" are targets. IP: Logged |

Indians just see him as a strong leader and Someone who can quickly change a nation around in less than 10 years. So its not so much about anti-antisemitism, if more people of the jewish faith lived in India it would be a different story. Although, I don't see him any better them Stalin or Ho Chi Minh. --------------------------------------- Capircorn Rising Gemini Sun, 5th House Aries Moon Mercury in Gemini Venus In Taurus Mars Cancer IP: Logged |

The President idolizes Mao Tse Tung. What's the difference? About 92 million people died under Mao, and Mao brought China to utter destruction and abject poverty with reckless abandon. All lives are precious. The Indian kids' affection for Hitler is indeed misplaced, and I do not condone that. But there is an equal if not bigger whacked out population in the US, advocating everything in the spectrum from facism to communism. IP: Logged |

^ A few of you spoke to what my (time-limited) research turned up.It seems to be primarily an admiration built on the "good highways" argument, coupled with a "the enemy of my enemy (the British) is my friend" and sprinkled with a little ignorance of the true scope of his atrocities. What really gets me is the disdain expressed towards Gandhi by some in the article. *That* was a surprise. ------------------ If I've included this sig, it's because I'm posting from a mobile device.
