"For seven and a half years I've worked alongside President Reagan. We've had triumphs. Made some mistakes. We've had some sex...uh...setbacks." —George HW Bush in 1988 Though I searched and didn't find out how this got said, enough do attribute it to him. IP: Logged |

That's interesting that R Reagan didn't realize that the "under god" phrase was added to the pledge in his adult lifetimeBut then he had alzheimers, didn't he? IP: Logged |

He wasn't speaking literally. He was using a common frame of reference known to all to infer that God's hand and Blessing is on America. IP: Logged |

"If it's to be a bloodbath, let it be now. Appeasement is not the answer." Ronald Reagan on what to do about student disruptions at UC Berkeley, quoted in the Los Angeles Times (8 April 1970). ------------------ If I've included this sig, it's because I'm posting from a mobile device. Iwould respectfully suggest that Reagan, a member of the Rat Pack after all, pushed the Disney version of America when it suited him...he was neither naive nor particularly honest. IP: Logged |

I've always found it interesting how often entertainers & politicians connect...offhand I can't think of a single POTUS who didn't have big name entertainers promoting them (who in turn got huge gifts from the victorious politician, like Obama sent one on a long Caribbean vacation supposedly as an "ambassador" but never actually spoke to anyone), and plenty will drift from one profession to the other...like Jerry Springer and Arnold Schwarzenegger. Jesse Ventura seems perfect, the posturing of a wrestler would adapt well into politics. It strongly suggests that the role of politician is one who can be the most convincing liar as that's what both professions do, one for entertainment purposes and the other...well certainly not to serve "the people" who elect them. I wonder, are entertainers and politicians interlinked in other countries as well? IP: Logged |

Artists and artistes have always flourished under the patronage of the rich, the powerful and the royal. It's a worldwide and time honored symbiosis. With or without cynicism, they both need the attention of the public to succeed. And politics is an art in its own way. IP: Logged |

Not all Jews are Zionists...are you and MLK saying those Jews do not like themselves? Are you presumptuous enough to suggest that they cannot truly like themselves unless they are bound to Israel? As if Jews have to meet YOUR standards for what they should and should not believe...they are in a special class of people who must be Israeli nationalists or hate themselves? That's anti-semitic, to tell Jews what they ought to think, according to your notions of what's best for them. quote: Zionism (Hebrew: ציונות, Tsiyonut; Arabic: صهيونية, Șahyouniyyah) is a form of nationalism of Jews and Jewish culture that supports a Jewish nation state in the territory defined as the Land of Israel.[1]

I stand with MLK 1,000 %All Jews do except a few whacked people and the Orthodox who have a skewed perspective of Israel not being a nation until the actual return of the Messiah, but they are one small group of Jews and their reasoning is their own religious doctrines and not because they hate Jews, so don't bring them into it. If you can't stand to look at yourself, Faith, don't blame me. I have nothing more to say to you on the subject of Jews or Israel so I won't be back and you can talk to yourself if you want Blessings to you ( you will need them) ------------------ Passion, Lust, Desire. Looking at myself? What exactly are you saying, Ami? Are you slandering me again, by accusing me of bigotry, on absolutely zero grounds? If you try that, I will contact Randall about the problem, as I told you I would.

A lot of people make that mistake, of equating Israel with Jews. MLK was not a Jew so he perhaps did not realize that not all Jews felt/feel that Israel was a good idea...Zionism is a long time arguing point among Jewish folk. So far I have not seen a religion that was totally homogenous in it's members beliefs!IP: Logged |

Well thanks Faith! It might be worth pointing out another MLK quote."A nation that continues year after year to spend more on military programs than on social uplift is approaching spiritual death" Which described the US and Israel both even in the late 60s. IP: Logged |

Spending on Social uplift programs Catalina/katatonic?You mean government give-aways to people who could be and should be providing for their own needs but choose to be burdens on society. Let's see what the father of the US Constitution had to say about the subject. I cannot undertake to lay my finger on that article of the Constitution which granted a right to Congress of expending, on objects of benevolence, the money of their constituents. ~James Madison~
