Speaking of apartheid States, it is interesting to consider, in light of Israel's push for a "Jewish State", the deplorable history of South Africa, and the West's shameful relationship with that nation. I'm sure all recall that President Reagan called the then jailed Mandela a "terrorist", while inviting the racist Afrikaaner President Botha to DC for tea and sympathy. (Thatcher did the same on both counts) Israel also gifted the apartheid South African government with warm diplomatic relations. In fact, Israel offered SA a nuclear weapon. Yes, you read that correctly. Israel was, for many decades, South Africa's largest arms supplier. http://www.theguardian.com/world/2010/may/23/israel-south-africa-nuclear-weapons The American based Anti Defamation League was recently revealed to have been spying on thousands of Americans who supported the anti apartheid movement and/or opposed Israel's actions in the West Bank and Gaza. A vast majority of Israeli Youth are not racists and are not right wing. They are secular, liberal and even Atheists [20% of Israeli Jews are Atheists, and this percentage will keep rising in the youth.]30 years from now, Israeli demographics will be such that there will be a unified Arab-Israeli State. Israeli Jewish Population is coming down, and most affluent kids are immigrating to USA or Europe. Arab Population is booming, and after a generation of scientific education, there should be no problem in there being a 50% Jewish and 50% Arab Unified, Secular and Democratic Israel. I do not think tomorrow's youth will bother about the rants and raves of 80 year old haters, they will be too busy with amazing space age technology. The Old Neocon Hawks need enemies to keep up the Arms Sales in the middle East, and with Iran coming to the negotiating tables, their dreams of a World War 3 involving Israel as the scapegoat are crashing. The Obsession of Old Israeli Hawks will die a natural death.

The Israelis are a hell of a lot more patient than I am with Arab terrorism.By this time I would have expelled every Arab from Israel and pushed them back to a 50 mile line from Israel's borders. Which means...Syria, Lebanon, Jordan and Egypt would be smaller than they are today. Unfortunately, not all Arabs are terrorists, and many are solid members of Israeli society our refugees from the extremists. Are they to be lumped in with their crazy brethren? If only people's behavior and beliefs COULD be determined by looking at them or their DNA, life would be simpler everywhere, but t'ain't necessarily so. IP: Logged | |
