Today there is a lingering fear of past terrorism and current threats to the Sochi, Russia games.

The 1972 Olympics Munich [Germany]Massacre and The Centennial Olympic Park [Georga, USA] bombing come to mind immediately. A sad and chilling days for the Global community .

Another terror threat looms over the 2O14 Sochi games as it begins in Feb.

We can`t live in fear for our athletes and visitors to the games. We can only hope and pray Putin, Obama and the world can unite to prevent any terrorists deadly attacks.

(CNN) - New details fueled debate Monday over security at the upcoming Winter Olympic Games in Sochi: Wanted posters of a terrorism suspect on the loose, warships at the ready and a video threat from beyond the grave.

Russian President Vladimir Putin stressed that his country has stepped up security and is prepared to handle any threats.

But some U.S. lawmakers -- and at least one Olympic athlete -- have said they're worried about the situation.

Police in Sochi have handed out fliers at area hotels warning of a woman they believe could be a terrorist and who may currently be in the city.

One flier, obtained by CNN, asks workers to be on the lookout for Ruzanna "Salima" Ibragimova, described as the widow of a member of a militant group from the Caucasus region.

The woman, according to the flier, may be involved in organizing "a terrorist act within the 2014 Olympic region."

CNN obtained a copy of the flier, which is dated January 15, from security staff at a hotel in Sochi. The flier claims authorities have received information about Ibragimova's possible arrival in the region last week.

Photos of Ibragimova have flooded television and social media reports from Sochi. Some describe her as a "black widow" -- a notorious type of terrorist that's emerged in Russia's clashes with Chechen separatists.

Many of them are wives of insurgents killed by government forces, and they've been blamed for high-profile suicide bombings.

Security experts stressed Monday that the woman is likely one of many suspects authorities are trying to find.

As in the days if the Czars (think cossacks), the Bolsheviks, Stalin, and the Soviets, freedom to murder the "opposition" has always been dear to the Russian ruling classes

But like the Hydra, new dissenters of varying violence keep cropping up in the place of those chopped down. There is no way protests and terrorists will be eliminated by violence or surveillance. Total control will always fail. As the Nazisfound out. They were destroyed as much from within as by armed forces.

I have confidence Putin & his network will keep the olympic village safe.

It is the tourist spread out in the other cities that concern me.

Putin had earned a passel full of trouble with his dictating but the rest of the globe should not have to pay for his despicable and audacious position.

No pire it won`t as the Munich Massacre didn`t ruin the spirit.

imho, It would be a devastating blow to the world and it would rest on Putins door step and that could cause destruction on a political level not seen before.

Part of why I question how Sochi got the games in the first place.

Hungary: Nations Received Email Threat About Sochi Olympics Terror Attacks

The International Olympic Committee confirmed there was a message but downplayed the severity of it.

Fearful Olympic skater tells his parents to stay home in Wisconsin and not travel to cheer him on at the Sochi games as athletes' concerns rise over terror threat

things there seem to be taking speed

yesterday, the police attaked the demonstrators for the first time in huge scale. 5 deads. today thursday, demonstrators got "ready" during the night and prepared amunition (stones and Molotov cocktail mainly) and "built some protections such as iced wall made of snow.
