It's unfortunate that they didn't redo this to include last year, which was the fourth warmest year on record. The new top ten list would have 1998, 2002-2007, 2009, 2010, and 2013 making seven years in the last decade that made the list (with two years of the last five in the top five). http://blogs.agu.org/wildwildscience /2013/01/16/nasa-2012-was-9th-warmest-year-on-record-the-9-warmest-years-have-all-occurred-since-1998/ IP: Logged |

What you're missing, Randall, is that a Pause in warming doesn't mean a Reduction in temps, but a plateau. As to nuclear winter being a failed theory, msybe, but the pollution in China is so thick it is having a similar effect. The fact that it isn't caused by a bomb doesn't change the fact that poisons and dimming of sunlight is interfering with crop growth (as well as killing people who breathe)... The US has actually significanrl decreased its carbon footprint so maybe it does make a difference. Of course we could always go.the china route...excessive pollution seems to have a cooling effect...but we'd all be dead 'fore long... IP: Logged | |
