Yeah... If you want to talk about the IPCC's opinions why don't you reference them instead?

I'm pretty sure I could find some person claiming Obama's an alien, but I don't think I would trust it until I could actually find an official document where he states so himself.

The person you are quoting is a guest blogger. There are no credentials anywhere. He could be anyone.

Look... I know I'm being strict here.

Of course if you want to argue that global warming is exaggerated and all that you can do. But I would ask you to please improve your research methods if you do.

I think you can agree that there is too much at stake here to take these issues lightly and to take all that you are reading as fact. Imagine the implications of you convincing people that they don't have to change their habits if you are wrong!

If this was simply a matter of personal preference or opinion I wouldn't mind so much... But these opinions of yours affect everyone and seeing as you are trying to convince people of your point of view by broadcasting your opinions... I would say the stakes are pretty high.

People respect you here, and I think it is your responsibility.

It is my responsibility to inform others and protect the wasted trillions of dollars spent on nonsense. We couldn't drive up the temps on Earth if we intentionally tried to.

It's not your responsibility to speak of any scientific matter falsely. We can drive up temps. You're basing your statement on a belief you hold rather than a rational truth.

What, pray tell,

would be the incentive of politicians to spend money on "nonsense?". Do you think they are just stupid? All of them? The American government? The IPCC? UNFCCC?

What nonsense? Be more specific when you talk.

^ Yeah I would kind of like to see these trillions. They could certainly be put to good use... Supercharging stations, battery switching stations, EV bursaries, solar panels, wind mills, support for fusion research... Any green infrastructure really.

Did you know China places solar panels on top of their road lights? It's a tiny investment, but it keeps them self-sufficient for years.

Mexico has concrete roads. It's a more expensive initial investment, but they have much less wear, less pollution, and they also last longer (are cheaper in the long run). Most democratized countries use asphalt because the short electoral cycle disincentivizes longterm planning. Asphalt is also more comfortable to drive on.

Anyway so I'm not sure whether the US spends money on nonsense... But I certainly think it's nonsense not to spend more.
