Enormously impressed with Apple CEO Tim Cook for his strong words on climate change deniers, and demanding business should have benefits for people and the planet, beyond just profit. http://www.virgin.com/richard-branson/businesses-should-stand-up-to-climate-change-deniers IP: Logged |

Richard is a gem. However, i haven't heard anything about how he plans to make Virgin Air/Space green, and they are definitely producing plenty of carbon and using tons of fossil fuels..IP: Logged |

Firstly, it's easy to tell the common folks on the sidewalk to work harder from the backseat of a Rolls Royce. When you are successful, it's all too easy to tell people not to focus on a profit motive, or rather, that maximizing profits is secondary to serving humanity.Second, this is just my own personal point of view. I'm in no way doubting the existence of climate change or the scientific evidence. What I personally question is the degree to which humankind can influence ostensibly natural phenomena such as weather patterns. I don't question the rising seas since the Industrial Revolution, but I question the degree to which the Industrial Revolution brought about the rising seas. That's just my personal viewpoint, and it obviously isn't shared among the entire political constituency. IP: Logged |

Walmart has apparently designed a smarter truck called the WAVE, but the articles don't say that it intends to use them. Odd. http://autos.yahoo.com/news/walmarts-wave-concept-truck-fuel-efficient-future-semis-163539377.html I don't think Richard Branson was telling people to work harder. His message was for people to get out of the way of industry that is working to be greener. IP: Logged |
