Like I said, scratch a leftist and you'll find a tin plated hypocrite. The loudest shriekers for equal pay for women...pay women who work for them less...including the Marxist Messiah O'Bomber. Oh, but the usual suspects wouldn't want the truth to get in the way of O'Bomber and his Socialist comrades political ploy. Senate Democrats Pay Female Staffers Less Than Male Staffers BY Andrew Stiles, Washington Free Beacon A group of Democratic female senators on Wednesday declared war on the so-called “gender pay gap,” urging their colleagues to pass the aptly named Paycheck Fairness Act when Congress returns from recess next month. However, a substantial gender pay gap exists in their own offices, a Washington Free Beacon analysis of Senate salary data reveals. Of the five senators who participated in Wednesday’s press conference—Barbara Mikulski (D., Md.), Patty Murray (D., Wash.), Debbie Stabenow (D., Mich.), Dianne Feinstein (D., Calif.) and Barbara Boxer (D., Calif.)—three pay their female staff members significantly less than male staffers. Murray, who has repeatedly accused Republicans of waging a “war a women,” is one of the worst offenders. Female members of Murray’s staff made about $21,000 less per year than male staffers in 2011, a difference of 35.2 percent. That is well above the 23 percent gap that Democrats claim exists between male and female workers nationwide. The figure is based on a 2010 U.S. Census Bureau report, and is technically accurate. However, as CNN’s Lisa Sylvester has reported, when factors such as area of employment, hours of work, and time in the workplace are taken into account, the gap shrinks to about 5 percent. A significant “gender gap” exists in Feinstein’s office, where women also made about $21,000 less than men in 2011, but the percentage difference—41 percent—was even higher than Murray’s. Boxer’s female staffers made about $5,000 less, a difference of 7.3 percent. http://nation.foxnews.com/democrats/2012/05/24/senate-democrats-pay-female-staffers-less-male-staffers And, of course we know O'Bomber pays his women staffers 12% less than his men staffers. Not a pretty picture for leftists to be caught in....shrieking, howling and wheezing about an issue they're mired up to their eyebrows in. IP: Logged |

I wonder if the 5% gap would still be there? IP: Logged |

Equal pay is already the law. This is just a diversion the Democrats are using. Studies have shown that women receive less pay than men, because the majority of them accept their initial job offers, while the majority of men negotiate a higher salary before accepting. IP: Logged |

If equal pay is the law of the land, why not allow the bill that updates it beyond 1964 pass?? Hum mm?And, make it 'OK' for employees to discuss their pay rate. A practice that is currently, actively, discouraged? And JW, I could care less about your supposed instances of leftist hypocrisy. The perpetrators I am addressing, are those who are elected to public office as caretakers of the public welfare. If you think the current filibuster by the sit- on- their hands Senate Republicans is in the best interest of Public Welfare, anyone who believes these are not the actions of pocket toadies are:
Wearing earplugs - Surgically affixed eye mask
- Received a full frontal lobotomy
- ALL of the above
So, men are better negotiators? What a bunch of crap. When women negotiate initial salaries, and raises, they are often punished for it. They are also told take it or leave it. One famous case showed where a woman found out that her younger, just hired fellow employee [man] was hired at more money than she was making, when she went to ask for a matching salary, her boss told her, no raise, and, no matching salary. this happens all the time! And before you question her performance/experience in relation to the new hire, both were stellar. You guys don't have a clue what goes on. IP: Logged |

Oh, I don't deal is suppositions. I deal in facts and the facts are that the biggest screechers and howlers for equal pay for women...pay women who work for them LESS THAN THEY PAY MEN.That makes them hypocrites of the Do as I say, not as I do variety. IP: Logged |

Democrats are trying to use this to divert attention away from the issues that will cost them seats in November. Discussing pay is discouraged, because it creates problems in the workplace. Job offers are negotiable, and salaries will naturally differ. IP: Logged |

BS? There are plenty of studies that prove otherwise. Women tend to tie their worth to the amount they are offered as a salary, while men tend to negotiate a higher salary. And women are afraid of damaging relationships by asking for more, while men really don't care as much about relationships. Furthermore, the highest paid demographic is married men. The second highest paid demographic is single women. Single women make more than single men! You can't refute the numbers. I'm not saying discrimination doesn't occur, but just because there is a pay discrepancy, it doesn't mean it's due to discrimination. But either way, Obama shouldn't spout off at the mouth about unequal pay when his own staff reflects the supposed problem in a most pervasive manner! IP: Logged | |
