The fact that you're telling a disabled person that they don't know what ableism looks like when they see it, is ridiculous. That's like telling an African American that they don't know what racism looks like, or a woman that she doesn't know what sexism looks like. I mean, really? Is the right wing really sinking that low right now?

You mean for the Trump supporters.

I haven't been duped by anybody. I know ableism when I see it. You don't see it, probably because you've never experienced it.

It's not rocket science. You're just making it more complicated than it really is.

Racism has a definition. Look it up. Just because an African-American thinks something is racist doesn't make it so. People can watch the video and make up their own minds. Your perception is your perception. You are free to believe whatever you want.

No, not the Trump supporters. I posted it for the open-minded liberals who do seek truth. At least they can put that one Trump falsity to rest.

So does ableism, and sexism, and xenophobia, and all of the other forms of hatred and discrimination that Trump is guilty of. You should look it up. You're backing a guy that supports it.

I mean against a member. Public figures subject themselves to harsh criticisms.

It could have been taken out of context. I concede that. I'm very open-minded. I've been wrong before, and I'll be wrong again.

Let's lay the horseshiiite to rest that Trump mocked a disabled reporter. Trump didn't "mock a disabled reporter". Trump mocked a lying reporter. Some here, and elsewhere insist this lying twit reporter stuck a pin in Trump's balloon of having noticed Muslims celebrating the 9/11 attacks.

But this is the guy who wrote the story of Muslims in America celebrating the 9/11 attacks.

No reporter ever...in their entire life forgot a published piece they wrote, NEVER. Even if somehow they lost their memory, they have copies in their files and their publication has extensive files in their newspaper morgues.

So, this lying little twit who wrote the story about Muslims in America celebrating the 9/11 attacks jumps up and says..."I don't remember". The reason this lying reporter says he doesn't remember is because NOW, the meme of the far left lunatic press is to hide every bit of Muslim crime, hostility to America, Jihad against America and Americans and anything else which proves Muslims who have a grudge against America and Americans were invited to come live among us.

Trump mocked this lying little airhead reporter for saying..."I don't remember" and in fact, when Trump was waving his arms around in the incident leftists love to reference, that's exactly the words Trump used to mock him..."I don't remember".

On a different matter, perhaps the next time Hillary The Corrupt decides to condescend to black Americans using black idiomatic speech patterns..."I don't feel no ways tired", "I've come too fur to turn back now.....", she should go all the way and apply some black face theater make-up.

He mocked a lying reporter, just like he mocked a Lyin' Ted. The disability is not a factor. It's a common ploy of the left to use. For example, if you disagree with the policies of Obama, you're a racist. Or if you have a Constitutional question that Obama didn't meet one of the qualifications to be president. Yes, there's plenty to dislike about Obama, and none of it is related to the color of his skin.

But the Clintons actually did refer to the color of his skin in 2008. "Carry out bags"? Really?

I remember back when I shared about conservatives making up cartoons of Obama eating watermelon in a crass way, or Obama as a witch doctor from Africa, and I was told how that was not racist, I was reading too much into it.

And now the same people are going to go after Hillary for friggin hot sauce?

JFC.

Perhaps I should put this in the Cartoon for the Day as I was thinking of doing when I entered GU, but I've been in GU long enough, so I'll post it here:

Offhand, I remember this , though I'm pretty sure this is more (I really try to avoid too much Trump, including news about him, good or bad).

If Trump really rejects all the overtly bigoted stuff, then I wish he'd say so very firmly. Trump has had a terrible effect in schools, which I don't feel like explaining now, essentially he has emboldened racist bullies who say his name, and as their parents are often Trump supporters, it gets somewhat tolerated. If he'd tweet people to cut that crap out (at least leave his name off of it) rather than racist lies, then that would be something for him. Of course if he did that he'd lose a lot of support and he needs as much of it as he can get.

I read an article - I'll see if I can find it tomorrow - that talked about the effect that his comments on immigration were having on kids and school environments. Basically that instead of concentrating on school work, studying, friends or sports, there's been an increase in the amount of bullying and racist remarks towards Hispanic kids. I'll see if I can find it because it was actually a really interesting article.

I'm sure there's plenty of more examples of the effects that he's had in school environments, but that was just one that came to mind.

Is this the article?
http://www.nytimes.com/2016/08/14/opinion/sunday/donald-trump-is-making -america-meaner.html?src=me&_r=0

The school the teacher I know has gotten off light (compared to that article which I hope is "worst case scenario"), but it's pretty bad. Basically, where kids were unlikely to use epithets and slurs (at least in the hearing of an adult), and backed down quickly when called on it, they're doing it more now, and defying teacher authority with things like, "I'm not politically correct." And it's mostly targeted at Hispanics, but others are targeted as well. (They're not making unpopular arguments or debating points, they're just being obnoxious and even bullies.)

It reminds the teacher a bit of A Class Divided. It only took a day of the "eye color" experiment and even former friends turned on each other over the different color of eyes, and when it was reversed, same thing in reverse. What's interesting is that even those who escaped the harsh and even cruel treatment rather unscathed did worse academically, and that's something the teacher has been seeing, members of minority groups who seem to be left alone for whatever reason are doing more poorly, and it's not some passive aggressive "grading them harder" because the teachers giving the grades are concerned about it.

That said, it's not just kids. Some teachers are turning into similar jerks, but most school boards don't want to risk a lawsuit so have taken a real effort to discourage it if not actively punish it. Unfortunately, the same fear of lawsuits make school boards discourage school faculties from doing much to discipline the kids being jerks as they fear the Trump loving parents finding a way to sue the school (following in the steps of their hero, and hating schools anyway).

I wonder how much of it is just absorbed from the parents. But it could be Trump himself. Back when I was in school the trial of Bill Clinton was on TV, and when Bill Clinton said oral sex doesn't count, kids at my high school were gleefully throwing that at teachers (who had no credibility when it came to talking about sex anyway), especially as school faculty were big on respecting authority (whether it was President Clinton or then Texas Governor Bush who'd become the next POTUS). Oral sex became the fad, it was even expected, because "it doesn't count" and many thought one couldn't get STDs from it. (This isn't to say oral sex wasn't happening before, just that it became more common, or at least more open, after.)

I share that because if President Clinton could affect my school that way, then I can see how Trump has his own bad effect. While I'm sure Hillary is cynically playing America with her "the children are watching" ad, the point still stands regardless. 'Course if Trump made it very clear that he was opposed to all this then it would be difficult for me to blame him...and he wouldn't get so much support from open bigots as well.
