http://www.cnn.com/2017/01/05/politics/talladega-college-band-inauguration/ They needed $75,000 and had raised $55,000 of it, but after appearing on The O'Reilly Factor, their GoFundMe page expoloded and is now at over $360,000! They are very excited to go, despite numerous threats from the left. African-American colleges are sorely in need of funds, with many teachers having to buy supplies out of their own pockets. That's a great story. I wish people would get off of their case and leave them alone. They should be proud of themselves. IP: Logged |

Why does race have to play into it? Do you feel that same way for the white people who supported Obama? IP: Logged |

Isn't it strange that there are black schools ? France, and Europe has some getthos usually in suburbs where live many new immigrants, i.e. Black african from former colonies or from algeria, tunisia and marocco essentially. That is an issue because the integration isn't facilitated, and integration is the way it has always worked in France, and in Europe generally. Multiculturalism isn't the french model, although it is more and more advocated even here ( not my position) . But I am honestly astounded that in the US the racial segregation still exist. I never YET visited the US but from what I gather here and there, the 2 communities live side by side with very little mixing. To me, even mentioning the existence of 2 "COMMUNITIES" has something weird about it. How come, in a country built by black and white, from the start or more or less? At least from several centuries both ? And anyway both replacing a native civilization ? To me this means that the white supremacism still exist because the white community hasn't accepted its guilt. But this is old history. Nothign you can do about it. And the new white people should not feel obliged to keep the old racist concepts alive in the name of their ancestors' belief, they are not accountable to old belief, nor should they feel the need to change their culture, hope, tradition, vision of the world because they couldn't be rooted in their past because of this racist part of their history. It is almost as if the white culture (particularily in Europe, obviously) feared to loose itself, its coherence, even its existence, if it accepted to integrate others. This is true only if we are not secure in who we are, our values. Guilt for past wrong actions keep us rooted in insecurity and there begin a vicious circle that prevents us from being truly secure in our values. Let's accept our failures, and we will be more confident in our values if they are themselves positives. Take it from a european here, whose country has been fighting every other neighbouring country forever, and all have fought against every other country i europe throughout history. So what? the EU n'ow is our answer, and France isn't becoming Germany or Spain or any other.... what make the European culture isn't the color of the people, but it's adventurousness like the vikings, it's wisdom like the ancient greeks, it's efficient organisation like the romans, it's faith like the christians, it's universalism like the modern voltaire... and all their respective flaws. From the black perspective, it is also gonna be necessary to accept that theyhave been victims and that their reward is now possible by living i na thriving economy, a democratic coutnry that they too have contributed to create and that would be different had they not been here. Iam not enough familiar with the African american mentality but i suppose that the ostracism they have been subjected to has led their " community " ( whatever you read in that ) to feel victim and under apreciated. However the resentment should not lead to a need for revenge cause it would miss the forgiveness necessary to heal. I did a BA in politics and African Culture. I remember reading extensively about the post independence disillusionement. Many african writers have described their hopes in an Afrika ruled by and for africans, only too find out that it would be a little bit more complex than a race issue. ( i see a class issue myself - my marxist bias - although my marxist perspective has nothing to do with the marxist understanding of jwhop) anyway, back to wisdom, not fearmongering... As much as the white culture needs to be able to define itself outside of, or beyond, their racist history, and prejudice, in order to be able to integrate other races without fearing loosing its unity, black culture needs to balance the need for revenge and understandable feeling of resentment for the contempt with which they have been treated, with mercy and forgiveness in order to appease their feelings. You brought race into it, by mentioning that African American colleges are sorely in need of money. IP: Logged |

African-American colleges existing are a fact. And the need money is real. The insinuation that they can't appreciate a white president is racist. The color of a president matters not.IP: Logged |
