I started a Kid Rock thread right before posting that. And once again, Dems show that the compassionate party is just a facade--just like they also claimed to be tolerant. Liberals want unfettered access to our shores for nonvetted refugees, but when it's a sick baby, oh the feigned outrage.

What are you ranting at Randall? No outrage was feigned or expressed. It simply doesn't need a line in the appropriations bill to bring him here.. his parents don't need a special law to apply for a residence visa either. Theyre English.

Trump could sponsor them today without any congressional acts.

Not sure why you feel the need to grind on about it.. nor why you feel the need to paint refugees (largely of our making) as nasty freeloaders.

They're all people who need a break due to no fault of their own.. they should all be entitled to apply for visas and a life free from harm. And they should all be vetted.

Refugees are vetted. If you're referring to me you've just totally read into what i said what you expect to hear. Sorry but that's not my fault and you're not describing me.

July 24 – Chris Gard and Connie Yates withdraw their application to take their son to America for treatment after admitting damage done to the 11-month-old’s muscle and tissue is “irreversible” – and he will not live to see his first birthday..

July 25 – Great Ormond Street Hospital tells Charlie Gard’s parents their son’s ventilator won’t fit through their front door.

Some of the English papers have reported thatCongress granted him citizenship. Tho that's not quite true.. the amendment to a bill that hasn't been voted on gives permission for him to apply for residence. By the time Congress vote on it.. let's just say too little too late.

In addition at least some of the Horror of this story is tabloid fake news. The parents wanted to take their baby home to die and the hospital was made out to be callous and authoritarian in denying that.

His ventilator wouldn't fit in their door. So the parents suggested getting a portable one.. anyone who knows about ventilators knows that getting off them causes pain and physical stress.. so taking hin off and replacing him on another one.. humane? I understand and empathize with the emotions of the parents but it seems in this case they may have been making requests out of ignorance and the hospital was trying to do the least harm possible..

The "doctor" (professor) with the miracle cure admitted he could not reverse brain damage.. Charlie's biggest problem.

Fake news has always had a place of honour in England, and especially since Rupert Bear got his foothold there.

So please spare me the feigned shock at my callousness.. which doesn't exist. Not all stories have happy endings.

Meanwhile here in lovely usa people have their kids removed from their care for disagreeing with doctors.. and i dont hear Trump or Congress getting involved

RIP, Charlie Gard , and thank you
Daren Jonescu

Unfortunately, Charlie Gard has died.

Normally, we lament the loss of a baby by saying things like, "It's so unfair that he never had the chance to accomplish anything or live a meaningful human life." Not so in this case. For while Charlie was obviously deprived of the opportunity to fully experience life – and I mean deprived by his illness, not just by a ghoulish British health care system – his brief time on this Earth has done tremendous good for all of us.

Charlie, with the help of his heroic parents, Chris Gard and Connie Yates, has brought the true nature of socialized medicine, and of progressive government in general, to the attention of the world, in the clearest and most emotionally straightforward way.

At its base, the meaning of this case, having been played out so bluntly and loudly in the British and European courts, in the British Parliament, and through the international news media, could not be made any clearer to anyone who wishes to see: the socialist State owns the individual human being and may dispose of his life whenever it sees fit. There is nothing anyone – not parents, not popes, not presidents, not thousands of generous donors – can do to override the decision of the State to forcibly shorten the life of a baby who the State's medical slaves have decided is no longer "viable" or worth the government's effort or expense.

Socialized medicine is, in principle and by intention, State ownership of life – the official, legal elimination of individual liberty – which is why all communist, socialist, and fascist theorists have regarded it as an essential apparatus of any good progressive tyranny. This is not new or shocking information to anyone who examines the history of progressivism or the statements and plans of its leaders. The Charlie Gard case merely brought the fact and its full implications into bold relief, a supremely valuable service in a time when, thanks to the ubiquity of progressive education and a complicit media and entertainment industry, the true bloodthirsty essence of "progress" has been obscured and prettified with social justice pap about "caring" and "compassion."

Kidnapping is not caring. Slavery is not compassion. Stealing sick babies from their parents' arms and killing them at will, without the parents having any say in the matter, or even being allowed to take the babies home to die, is a criminal enterprise, and it violates everything modern civilization ever stood for.

If you can't understand that, it's too late for you. If you are thinking through these matters deeply for the first time, then you can thank a tiny baby, Charlie Gard, and his magnificent and courageous parents, Chris Gard and Connie Yates, for setting you on the path to spiritual freedom.

God bless all three of them.

The only long-term solution to America's healthcare crisis is a single-payer national healthcare program.

The good news is that, a large-scale single-payer system already exists in the United States and its enrollees love it.

It is called Medicare. Open to all Americans over 65 years of age, the program has been a resounding success since its introduction 48 years ago. Medicare should be expanded to cover all Americans!

No Insurance Companies Needed! Can I say that again? I think I will...

An obvious way to bankrupt America. You're never going to get single payer health care for the whole of America.

You leftists want it? Emigrate!

Single Payer Health Care Kills.

Single-Payer Health Care Kills
David Hogberg
October 29, 2017

Once again, Britain’s NHS rations on the backs of the sickest patients

Britain’s National Health Service, held up as the gold standard by leftists everywhere, announced just last week that it will “ban patients from surgery indefinitely unless they lose weight or quit smoking.”

According to the Telegraph:

In recent years, a number of areas have introduced delays for such patients—with some told operations will be put back for months, during which time they are expected to try to lose weight or stop smoking.

But the new rules, drawn up by clinical commissioning groups (CCGs) in Hertfordshire, say that obese patients “will not get non-urgent surgery until they reduce their weight” at all, unless the circumstances are exceptional.

The criteria also mean smokers will only be referred for operations if they have stopped smoking for at least eight weeks, with such patients breathalysed before referral.

East and North Hertfordshire CCG and Herts Valleys said the plans aimed to encourage people “to take more responsibility for their own health and wellbeing, wherever possible, freeing up limited NHS resources for priority treatment”.

Both are in financial difficulty, and between them seeking to save £68m during this financial year.

This is far from the first time that the NHS has denied treatment to some of Britain’s sickest patients:

-About a decade ago, Alice Mahon, a Member of Parliament from the left-wing Labour Party, needed the drug Lucentis to keep from going blind but the NHS refused to provide it for her. She lost sight in her left eye.

-In 2012, a report from Macmillan Cancer Support found that the NHS denies cancer treatment to as many 14,000 elderly patients annually because they are too old.

-About two years ago the NHS faced a funding crunch. It cut costs by refusing to pay for about 17 drugs that treated various types of cancer including breast, bowel, prostate, and pancreatic. It affected up to 5,000 patients.

-During the same funding crisis, a survey of physicians in the NHS foundthat 75 percent had seen rationing “including treatments such as speech therapy, operations to remove varicose veins, Botox to help children with cerebral palsy move better and even potentially life-saving stem cell transplant surgery.”

-The NHS also saves money by “means testing” the assets of patients who need nursing home care. As a result, thousands of elderly people have had to sell their homes to pay for care.

It seems like I’ve written this 100 times already, but I’ll gladly write it 100 more: Rationing health care on the backs of the sickest patients is a feature, not a bug, in single-payer health care systems like Britain’s.

When politicians control health care systems—as they do in single-payer systems—then the people most likely to get good care are those who can most influence politicians’ reelection chances. Unfortunately, it is the sickest patients who are most likely to lack such influence. For starters, relatively few people get seriously ill in any given year, too few to have much impact on elections. Nor are people who are seriously ill in much condition to be doing the things that can influence health care policy, like organizing, working on get-out-the-vote campaigns, or lobbying.

That is why the NHS has had waiting times for the sickest patients—those who need cancer treatment, bypass operations, hip and knee replacements, and so forth—for decades. The NHS has the money to eliminate waiting times, but the patients who end up waiting for treatment lack the political power necessary to change the NHS’s spending priorities.

It is also why the NHS has the power to deny Charlie Gard the ability to go abroad for treatment. Charlie Gard was an infant who had a deadly genetic disease. His parents had raised the money to pay for an experimental treatment in the United States. Yet the powers that be at the NHS decided that the treatment wouldn’t work and denied Charlie’s parents the opportunity to try, sealing Charlie’s fate. Since there are so few Charlie Gards in the United Kingdom, politicians can allow the NHS to, in effect, sentence sick infants to die without facing any consequences.

Doctors sue Brit govt for destroying the NHS.. after systematically starving it thru funding cuts now Parliament wants to make it official.. without actually saying they want to nullify the service. Sound familiar?

http://www.independent.co .uk/news/uk/politics/jeremy-hunt-health-department-nhs-legal-action-americanise-privatisation-customers-id-pay-a8033986.html

Its popularity has endured since 1948 and is a symbol of all that is decent about Britain. However it is being starved of funds and progressively dismantled and replaced with corporate structures known as Accountable Care Organisations which will facilitate the introduction of American-style healthcare systems.

The Socialist NHS isn't at all popular with those who were strapped to their bed and medically murdered by starvation and dehydration. Wasn't that NICE?

Nor is the NHS popular with those who died waiting to see a doctor.

Nor with those who were forced to pull their own teeth.

Nor with those women who had to deliver their babies by themselves at home..or in the parking lot of one of the NHS hospitals.

Leftist Socialist may pine for Single Payer health care but they're too lazy or corrupt to go find it in the country of their choice.

As I've said before...Emigrate.

The healthcare system and social benefit systems, including cuts to wages of providers, refusals of benefits to disabled and sick people.. are the real murderers who have hobbled the NHS cumulatively over the years starting with Thatcher but really going for it in 2010.

No cuts to the UK military either fyi. More important to kill people than support them😉 there as here
