I'm staying. No where to go that isn't 600 miles away..(north). Besides, with interstate traffic moving at about 5mph, the hurricane is moving faster at 16mph. Sounds like a losing proposition to me.  Thanks for the thought. IP: Logged |

I've been watching this storm tracker for the past two days (use the drop-down menu, upper left to switch to Irma) :
http://project.wnyc.org/hurricane-tracker/ And not liking it's path moving more and more west, Tampa Bay, where i have a couple of close friends. A friend of mine in Gulfport just emailed me back and is frantically trying to prepare before heading out of her 1st floor coastal apartment. You're staying? Damn. I saw pictures of empty store shelves, and that storm is massive. I have friends who are worried about friends and family down there. The only friend I can think of, in Florida, is going on vacation - she's already flown out of there. IP: Logged |

Go another 600 miles north and we can put you up for an Autumn in MI! I hope you are 12 stories up as the west side storm surge sounds overwhelming. We have kin in Jacksonville and they are staying. Sadly, so are friends in Fort Myers & that really worries me. ------------------

Thanks cat, but I havent lived in FL for awhile now. I just suggested to an old neighbor of mine in the Tampa area to start making more ice and filling up freezing containers of water. Not telling how long power will be out and I know some of his medication (eye drops) needs to stay refrigerated. IP: Logged |

Well, the last 5 tracking reports show Irma is going to blow right through my back yard.My home is 1.5 feet above sea level and 5-8 feet of water surge is forecasted for this area. Moving 10 miles inland to higher ground early tomorrow..Sunday. Thanks for the well wishes.  IP: Logged |

I have my eyes & ears to CNN (yes jwhop CNN) for updates. So far I understand not as bad as expected but the damage and people without power is overwhelming. Almost 6 million. MI has sent 1000 national Guards down along with local big power companies sending workers and equipment.. God Bless you Floridians  ------------------
