Personal case :Today I opened my nose, cut the right nostril over 1 inch long while working on a piece of metal that jumped at my face. I went to the doctor, he did 4 surgical knots to suture the impressive wound, the visit did cost me 45 € that are going to be reimboursed in a couple of weeks, and i got some antibiotics and paracetamol for free at the pharmacist because they were ordered by the doctor. i only paid 5.90 € for some vaseline to keep the suture wet. That ain't reimbursed. All this was done within 4 hrs on saturday afternoon. 5.90 € altogether. The next step is to visit again the doctor in a week so he takes the knots out, the visit, around 25 € i think, will be reimbursed later, And to correct the now "broken" nose that sits in the middle of my face in a not so straight way, I will go to visit a surgeon. And might get the estethic surgery free (taken care for) if the surgeon consider it necessary (not just a personal fancy) IP: Logged |

If only every Nation on Earth could have such affordable care! In India, Employee State Insurance does work effectively. My employee got a $120,000 heart valve replacement surgery done for $70.00. Her monthly meds cost $30.00 [it would cost a 1000 easily in USA] not because of subsidy but because there is no exorbitant royalty charge from local companies for the same molecules for which US Big Pharma extorts 90% as Royalty. In South India, cost of using "Made in America" Stents for removal of artery blocks cost $3000 per block in posh private hospitals, 1/20th the US Cost. Less than $50 in State Hospitals. In actual practical care, Scandinavia and France are easily in the top 10. IP: Logged |

companies in the US make the price of medecine extremely expensive while over here it is regulated because the social security (State) is reimbursing it to the patients.Same for the interventions by doctors, they cost some money but it is all reasonable, nothing in tousands, maybe in hundreds ... The rest of the world look at the US healthcare with astonishment, how can they accept to be ripped off for such a natural need like healthcare IP: Logged |
