An increase of 3.1 % over the summer! That's how capitalism works. Tax cuts create jobs, and wages go up to attract employees. Thank you, President Trump!IP: Logged |

Many places have raised minimum wage to keep pace with those pioneers who thumbed their noses at your dire predictions of collapse if they did. Ancient history, right? Lost in the mists but ongoing for awhile now. Remember? Started before DT was in tho so we understand you have to credit him (despite his professed belief that wages are too high all of a year ago). And of course Amazon has just raised minimum wage for hundreds of thousands. Amazon raised the minimum to $15 an hour, and that's just capitalism at play. Tax cuts work!IP: Logged |

Under a very struggling Obama economy, being FORCED to raise the minimum wage would have been catastrophic. That's the wonderful thing about a free market. IP: Logged |

Remember how Seattle was going to go under for raising its minimum wage? Whatever happened? Copycats everywhere.. Obama didn't make them do it. They didn't do it because the economy was foundering...Business improved contrary to conservative warnings.. and now even Bezos sees the logic of employees being able to eat and pay their rent. I see you have selective amnesia. What Republicans opposed was being forced.IP: Logged |

I didn't imply otherwise howeverWhatever the reasoning, it was seen as certain death for business in the city.. and the result was the exact opposite. IP: Logged |

No one said such dire things. Increases in minimum wage lead to layoffs. Unless, of course, those increases are the natural result of economic forces.IP: Logged |

You don't get to make up your own facts. An expanding economy and low unemployment rates leads to competition for labor..which leads to rising wages for that labor. Which is the scenario we have right now. Forced/mandated wage increases in a down economy lead to layoffs and contractions in the employee force. IP: Logged |
