I feel like this is something that ought to be put up for a vote, instead of decided arbitrarily by one person or even a council. There are so many issues with this idea, and the ones most affected should have a say over this kind of change. Insurance for everything (car, home, business) will skyrocket. Businesses will have a mass exodus. People will move away. The overwhelming majority of Americans (90%) don’t want the police force reduced, and a third want even more police. I think a local vote would reflect that. Most people would agree with some form of reform, but defunding or outright abolishing the police, as some far left media is suggesting, is wildly unpopular. If that doesn't get those idiots thrown out of office, nothing will. IP: Logged |

CNNCamarota: What if in the middle of the night my home is broken into. Who do I call? Lisa Bender, Minneapolis City Council President: Yes, I hear that loud and clear from a lot of my neighbors. And I know ... and myself, too, and I know that comes from a place of privilege because for those of us for whom the city is working I think we need to step back and imagine what it would feel like to already live in that reality where calling the police may mean more harm.
