Citing protests, federal judge strikes down Cuomo and de Blasio lockdown orders for churches"The ruling, a preliminary injunction delivered by District Judge Gary Sharpe, notes that by endorsing protests for racial justice while simultaneously discouraging large gatherings in churches, both Cuomo and de Blasio undermined their claim that their lockdown orders were "generally applicable." "The State argues, in overly-simplistic fashion, that the challenged laws only incidentally impose a burden on religious exercise, and they are neutral and generally applicable, and therefore, only rational basis need be shown, which is self-evident: preventing the spread of COVID-19," Sharpe wrote. "The State was silent with respect to the mass race protests." http://www.washingtonexaminer.com/news/citin g-protests-federal-judge-strikes-down-cuomo-and-de-blasio-lockdown-orders-for-churches IP: Logged |

Meanwhile, in CA, Governor Newsom has ordered no singing in churches. In response, Matthew J. Peterson @docMJP tweeted: "Remember kids, the only singing and chanting and large public gathering now allowed in California is for our official state religion only. Worship licensed by the Democrat party to the established Woke gods of state, and officiated by the priests of BLM and Antifa." lol IP: Logged |

yep. First Amendment right being trampled. “Activities such as singing and chanting negate the risk reduction achieved through six feet of physical distancing,” the state said in its new guidelines. Hmm, does that mean they are going to prohibit protests where people are chanting slogans in the future? IP: Logged |

No, that would violate protesters' right to freedom of "worship." lol IP: Logged |

LOLThe religious community needs to play with the same rules these people are using. Think outside the box. Since it's apparently ok to be out in the streets to protest loudly, then the church needs to do the same. Why stay cooped up inside for the religious services? Churches should start conducting their services outdoors. People can shout the name of the Lord, Yehsua, Allah, Krishna, or whatever God they worship up and down the streets, with pastor/minister/imam/guru doing sermon with a loudspeaker. Since you can't worship and sing inside, worship and sing outside. This is a golden, dare I say, God Given opportunity to TAKE IT TO THE STREETS! Yep, the solution to being gagged and muzzled inside your places of worship is to conduct your religious services by marching up and down a few streets, shouting, hollering and praising. IP: Logged |

If they can’t wear masks when they’re singing, that can spread the virus. Sure, make it a joke. Why not? IP: Logged |

I am not sure why you think it is a joke. Do you think people's right to practice their faith is a joke? Do you think religious freedom is a joke? If people can shout political slogans while wearing masks, people can surely can sing religious hymns while wearing masks. And since no one, not a soul was arrested at protests for the crime of not wearing a mask, it will be rich if they start arresting people for not wearing masks while they''re outside singing during religious services.
