Pee-Lousy has left no stone unturned in her quest to become the worst Speaker of the House in US history. A contemptible disgrace who is long past her shelf life. IP: Logged |

Good for her. Barr and Kavanaugh should be impeached, too. IP: Logged |

You're sounding 'progressively' more disturbed. Maybe Pee-Lousy is contagious. IP: Logged |

Please, let her do it! It would guarantee that the Dems lose the House. IP: Logged |

The House could impeach, but according to this source the Senate isn't required to conduct a trial: quote: The Senate has options for scuttling the impeachment process beyond a simple refusal to heed the House vote. The Constitution does not specify what constitutes a “trial,” and in a 1993 case involving a judicial impeachment, the Supreme Court affirmed that the Senate’s “sole power” to “try” means that it is not subject to any limitations on how it could conduct a proceeding. Senate leadership could engineer an early motion to dismiss and effectively moot the current rule’s call for the president or counsel to appear before the Senate. The rules in place provide at any rate only that “the Senate shall have power to compel the attendance of witnesses”: they do not require that any other than the president be called. Moreover, the Senate could adjourn at any time, terminating the proceedings and declining to take up the House articles.

So, if Pelosi carries out her threat, and if the goal would be to tie up the Senate with impeachment and thereby stop the nomination process, McConnell can simply make a motion to dismiss. Threats notwithstanding, the Dems are powerless to stop President Trump from putting a new justice on the Supreme Court.IP: Logged |
