It is a rotting carcass now, and tbh I save serious political discussions for other groups.
I hear you. But there is also evidence of more respect and productive discussion than I see in here. Why have you given up? All these people coming together is still an opportunity. What about the concept of 'global unity' on a Linda Goodman website? Should we give it up because it's hard? Did Linda give up? IP: Logged |

I have no problem at all with people theorizing. Even when the theories seem to me unlikely or even absurd. Better that than swallowing official narratives without question. IP: Logged |

If it was more productive, this was due to the two reasons pointed out. Again, ime the way forward lies outside politics. Politics will always infect the user, so to speak. That's part of its purpose. Water is wet, voix. You can't make it dry.

I do, when the theories are pushed as fact, and people are being threatened because of it. I mentioned a man in a local group, talking about a civil war. Another man burst in, going on about 60 million dead babies. Someone else, who was shut down on another forum, inferred that I worship Satan and eat babies, because I’m a liberal. She said that abortion is ritual sacrifice, and nobody could change her mind. Well, the president she worships, might be able to. Will he? No. The pizza gate nonsense got him elected. The moderators took care of that (they also don’t let people insult trump supporters). IP: Logged |

I disagree. The goal of politics is to agree solutions to problems. That is all. If people respected the point then it wouldn't be as much of a riot. If people made the effort to retain respect for others then it wouldn't be as much of a riot. Being disrespectful is not a prerequisite for problem-solving. Being disrespectful is personal choice. But, but, but...
This poses a huge dilemma, Juni, seeing that we're living in Orwellian times & truth is fiction and up is down, and what was considered a conspiracy 20 yrs ago is now a reality unfolding before our eyes, and seeing that the term “conspiracy" was coined by the cee eye aaa to program people to disregard the truth...it wld be sooo difficult to decide what *is* a real conspiracy... Scratch that, i'm just yanking your chain for old times sake
So how the heck ARE you dear Juni? 😄

The belief that democrats are evil overlords who steal your babies and eat them? I was amused at the time, but unsettled that this woman actually believes that. She isn’t alone. M The threats of civil war aren’t great, and with the growing unrest amongst people with guns (trump supporters), you don’t see a problem? You’ll come down on peaceful protesters, ignore the fact that white supremacists were starting trouble to make BLM protests look bad (such as burning the police precinct), but see no problem with talk of another civil war? Yes, but they usually aren’t encouraged by the president, who sees no use for people who didn’t vote for him. IP: Logged |

A sort of mild amusement.
If I allow myself to think long on it that amusement would morph into something closer to disheartment.

From my observations, this is the left's definition of conspiracy theory:Anything that does not agree with or questions its narrative which it cannot directly rebuke ==> conspiracy theory! If moderators in this forum want to have any kind of legitimacy, they need to rein in their partisan whims. IP: Logged |

People on the left often engage in directing rebuking conspiracy theories. It's not fundamentally difficult. If the conspiracy is big enough, like Pizzagate, the sheer amount of nonsense to refute may not be worth the effort, particularly because people aren't convinced by evidence. IP: Logged |

Eh? Perhaps as the webmaster, Randall could define "conspiracy theory". Problem solved. IP: Logged |
