It's a stressful and hostile world out there at times and we all feel this in different ways and from different directions. A lot of the pain in this world comes from other people (if not all of it), but people do wonderful things for each other also. I'd love to hear everyone's stories. So, what's the nicest thing anyone has done for you? IP: Logged |

I was very young with newborns.I owned a house, cars, furniture, etc. I had gotten laid-off by my employer because of a recession. I went to the mail box one day and got an envelope that didn't have a return address. It had a $100 bill inside (consider inflation). It bothered me for a couple of decades because I couldn't thank the person. So the energy was stored inside me all that time from the person that sent me the energy. The only way I could release the energy is to do similarly. That's how I figured out to always give anonymously. Because motives are not in the equation and I know I am helping for the right reason. Our self can be so conniving, we can take self out. IP: Logged |

That is why scriptures say to give in secret. However, we live in a society where people wear their charitable givings and philantrophy on their sleeves. IP: Logged |

Thanks IQ.Here is one scripture reference: ---------------------------------------- ◄ Matthew 6:1 ► Giving to the Needy Be careful not to perform your righteous acts before men to be seen by them. If you do, you will have no reward from your Father in heaven. So when you give to the needy, do not sound a trumpet before you, as the hypocrites do in the synagogues and on the streets, to be honored by men. Truly I tell you, they already have their full reward... http://biblehub.com/matthew/6-1.htm IP: Logged |

I love this story and the meaning you took from it, perhaps this is the closest we can get to an altruistic act - to give without knowing the person, situation or outcome. Thank you for sharing Secretgeek! IP: Logged |

Thank-you.
It's OK to know the person. Just that it's good if they don't know who helped them out.
