"she feels badly for local buyers that are getting priced out of the immediate market and have to go out to outlying areas. As with most moves, there are trade offs for those migrating from the Bay Area. Vermel said she misses great restaurants, particularly Mexican food. But she loves that there are dozens of kids on her street the same age as her children and she doesn’t have to worry about them exploring the neighborhood on their own. What she misses most is the diversity in the Bay Area — the state of Montana is 88% white. Lance Trebesch, CEO of Eventgroove, said diversity seems like it’s actually gotten slightly better since he moved to Bozeman 17 years ago from the Bay Area, but he believes the city and state still have a long way to go. Hopefully, the growing tech community, coupled with an emerging remote workforce, should help. “People have figured out what a great place this is,” he said. “The level of outdoor activities is top notch. There’s an emerging tech cluster. The schools are excellent…it’s not perfect, but why not live in a place like this?” yeah I don't think that's going to happen IP: Logged |

Yes, it can be annoying when they escape Californication and then complain about the lack of diversity in the new place. But I don't think it is as common as the media makes it believe. I have relocated to a red state, yeah for me! (and I am not going to say which one), and the Cali expats I encounter are not missing the superficial diversity of the sunshine state. And when I speak to Californians who want to leave Cali and worry about the lack of diversity in my new state, I tell them, if that is what you worry about, then stay in Cali. IP: Logged |

@ ShuraI think the title of the article is designed to discourage the Californian exodus that's bleeding the state. It's not the poor people that are leaving Cali, it's the people with money and steady jobs, and they are taking their taxes dollars with them. IP: Logged |

I spoke with a leftie Cali transplant today, in fact. This is all anecdotal ofc. Dependable stats would be hard to come by. Proof is in the pudding tho. Red states are turning purple, and purple states turning blue. Further, migrating to red states is a commonly voiced and encouraged tactic in all the left groups I frequent, from far far left to milquetoast center left. I mean, how many are actually doing it? Again, I can't say. But the local elections and cultural changes are evidence.IP: Logged |

Absolutely you can hear the ambivalence in the article. On the one hand, infiltration is necessary. On the other hand, work from home options aside, Big Tech can bleed out only so many worker bees, and Big Gov needs its taxpayers. It's a conundrum even an endless supply of H1b's might not fix.IP: Logged |

And it's interesting, at least to me, the sort of 'diversity' the expat Calis Ive spoken with are looking for. For example, no mention of American foundational Blacks. Oh hell no. Everyone is looking for the exotic. Somali Muslims, Guatemalan Mayans, Delhi Brahmins, Beijing tech lords. It's disgusting tbh.IP: Logged |

Hear, hear. I am so over the fake diversity virtue signaling of the left. IP: Logged |
