It's not a win for him. He gave them everything they wanted, and they still **** all over him. He also wanted to hit Pelosi with a gavel. You think that's okay? IP: Logged |

I watched it all last night. McCarthy is saying all the right things now, time will tell if he follows through on his promises. Hakeem Jeffries The communist 10 times election denier?? I watched his speech too. Nothing but pure, unadulterated communist rhetoric drivel. IP: Logged |

No, he did not literally want to hit her with a gavel. But you fully support violence, so long as it's against conservative SCOTUS justices, right? That wasn't conjecture or political discourse. It actually happened. IP: Logged |

McCarthy has the sword of Damocles over his head. If he doesn't deliver, it only takes one member to make a motion to vacate the chair. IP: Logged |

I guess it’s okay with you to be an election denier—it just depends on which election is being denied.

You were cheering insurrection, on July 4th, since it was clear your guys weren’t going to get away with their attempted coup. You guys tried to spin it as a good thing. IP: Logged |

Since when? And he said it wouid be hard to not hit her with it. Stop gaslighting. The Supreme Court justices dealt with protesters. Freedom of speech, remember? Nobody wa# hurt. Their decision has now left women and girls everywhere, in danger if they get pregnant. It’s taken choice away from millions. You don’t care about women at all, IP: Logged |

He’s a weak pillock, and trump didn’t help him much at all. Your party is moving on, Randall. Not to say he holds no power whatsoever, but it’s over crazy people who will continue to try to hurt us. IP: Logged |

It’s illegal to “protest” at the homes of judges. You know damn well that was an intimidation tactic. They should have all been arrested. And you must have forgotten about the plans to murder one of them. The decision of SCOTUS reversed a bad decision by them that never should have been made in the first place. Abortion should be decided by the states. You still think an unarmed protest in the Capitol was a coup? How cute. IP: Logged |

We know you're heartbroken your little communist 'election denier', Jeffries wasn't elected Speaker of the House. BTW, Trump was instrumental in getting McCarthy elected Speaker. Trump, personally interceding with the 20 holdouts who voted against McCarthy 14 times and got them to change their votes on the 15th vote for Speaker. As usual, you don't know what you're talking about. Personally, I wouldn't have lifted my little finger to help McCarthy get elected Speaker. I don't trust McCarthy any more than I trusted Ryan or Boehner. Time will tell if McCarthy turns out to be the backstabbing little weasel many conservatives think he is. So, as you can now plainly see, not all Trump supporters agree with his every action. IP: Logged |

I like that. I also appreciate those members who held out their votes until they got what they wanted, and did not cave in to pressure - even from Trump- to vote for McCarthy. Those concessions were needed. We don't want another Mitch McConnell... IP: Logged |

In a sane world, 20 members held out under enormous pressure and threats and were called much worse things than "stupid." They won major concessions from McCarthy and won them despite Trump's support for him. They had MAGA's support behind them. They deserve a lot of credit. The 118th Congress is an inflection point in how the House operates thanks to them. IP: Logged |

Sebastian Gorka, military and intelligence analyst, and former government official, throws down on Kevin McCarthy and Jim Jordan re Special Prosecutors on Biden and Trump docs: quote: Hey, Kevin, Jim, if you are serious about what happened last week, if you don’t want the Dems to turn you into [a] laughing stock, right now, tonight, you have to make a statement that [Jack] Smith and [Robert] Hur cannot be special prosecutors because they are compromised. They have conflicts of interest and if they do not step down or are not removed from their positions now, both will be the first witnesses on the Special Committee on the Weaponization of the U.S. government.

Biden administration warily planning for debt ceiling showdown
quote: The White House is not panicking — yet.The tumult surrounding Kevin McCarthy’s election to House speaker, and the rules changes that have empowered members of the far right, have previewed a number of potential showdowns.
snip quote: ...the concessions McCarthy made to become speaker in order to appease some of the hardliners in his caucus stripped him of some power he may need to keep the party in line. And his deal with conservatives stipulates that Republicans won’t support a debt limit increase if Congress doesn’t enact steep discretionary spending cuts or pass significant fiscal reforms to rein in the federal debt.Such demands were made during the Obama administration too. But Democrats aligned with the White House argue that the situation is more politically fraught now, precisely because McCarthy’s speakership is explicitly tied to following through on those debt ceiling demands.

This didn't come up in the search, at all.Anyway: http://www.cnn.com/2023/10/02/politics/matt-gaetz-kevin-mccarthy-speakership/index.html Do you think he will manage it?
It's rumoured that other pubbies are trying to get rid of Gaetz, after an ethics investigation? Aw, I'm so sad that the kids are fighting.
