The fight for Speaker of the House laid bare for the public to see how the House actually works. No more Bills created by the leadership behind closed doors and passed by unanimous consent, without debate by House members on the floor.The incoming 118th Congress is a departure from how the House has operated up to this point. For one thing, the House Freedom Caucus will have the power to stop uncontrolled spending, beginning with the next fiscal year. No more unfunded appropriations bills for trillions of dollars and thousands of pages in length released the night before voting that nobody knows what's in them. No more sneaking into appropriations what can't pass as a single item bill. For the next two years, the new GOP controlled Congress will not be about passing legislation, given the Senate and White House are controlled by Democrats. The 118th Congress will be largely about accountability. Investigations into the government's handling of Covid, Big Tech, the CCP, the weaponization of government, the DOJ and FBI, and Joe Biden, are forming. IP: Logged |
