And so what if he was fired? In "at will" states, people can be fired for any reason (if such termination isn't unlawful, i.e., in violation of an employment contract, in violation of a union contract, or if it is racially motivated or otherwise discriminatory of a protected class.

I would also add an additional way to sue an employer for firing you in an at will state. This is better shown by an example. Let's say that a person is taking leave for a surgery. The employer assures that employee that she will have her job when she returns back to work if she does not apply for unemployment benefits. She returns after the doctor clears her, and she is told that she is no longer needed (terminated). Under the legal doctrine of promissory estoppel, the employer could sue if she could prove that her employer made a promise to her that she relied upon to her detriment (loss of unemployment income that she could have received).

If they really thought democrats could beat Trump, they'd be pushing a Trump candidacy and singing Trump's praises.

They have a multi-prong strategy to win 2024. They are not leaving nothing to chance so they have different scenarios ready.

1) Why should they sing Trump's praise? They are not interested in appealing to his base. They would sound suspicious to his base, and would turn off their own base.

2) They would rather have Trump then DeSantis running, because TDS is alive and well and they can use it to win 2024 even with a foot-in-the-grave Biden candidate and his cackling hen Kamala.

3) They know all these legal attacks they are doing are not going to pan out in terms of indicting/arresting/convicting Trump, but they will continue to do them because they want to deplete Trump's coffers with multiple legal challenges. Trump will have to depend on his MAGA base shelling out $$$ again for his candidacy and presidential run. And the continuing legal challenges serve to maintain TDS alive in the democratic base.

4) All the Trump drama serves as a wonderful distraction from the economic and social woes of this country. They can always depend on Trump headlines to sell articles and newspapers, and keep their own ratings high.
