A New York judge has found Donald Trump and his adult sons liable for fraud and canceled the Trump Organization’s business certification, saying the Trumps provided false financial statements for roughly a decade.

Judge Arthur Engoron’s ruling came days before the civil case involving the New York attorney general’s office and the former president was set to go to trial.

Engoron granted Attorney General Letitia James’ motion for summary judgment, finding Trump, his sons, and others “to be liable as a matter of law for persistent violations” of New York state law. He found the financial statements the Trumps provided to lenders and insurers for about a decade to be false and said they repeatedly engaged in fraud

There was no fraud. Lenders have the responsibility to assess the properties on their own, commercial property assessment is not a fine science, lenders were all happy and were paid back (there are no victims), and there were disclaimers inserted in the loan docs. No, the properties will not be dissolved based on views of a Trump hating judge’s misapplication of the law. Calm down. You get way too excited over this kind of stuff, only to be let down again and again.

As for the charges against Trump, they were bee ess, generic charges that could be leveled at any real estate developer. Somehow only Trump got them and the timing was amazing.

They were also bee ess because valuing of properties is highly subjective. The judge valued Trump's Mar-a-Lago properties at $18 million, while the vacant lots in the area are going for $400 million. That sounds like corruption on her side of the bench, not Trump's.

As I wrote here, commenting on an attempted Washington Post hit job Trump's banker in San Diego, a good banker always checks out the collateral on a client's loan forms to make his own assessment before offering a loan. This banker profiled in the Washington Post, from Axos Bank, named Gregory Garrabrants, in fact, found the Trump empire to be reasonable and honest, giving the Post's reporter the fisheye by saying:

"It wouldn't matter if I was friends with someone, I'm not going to make a loan that's no good," he said. "I don't like anyone that much."

Commercial property is more difficult to assess than residential. In the case of President Trump, the properties are so unique that there are no comparables. Some of them are also businesses (golf courses), further complicated valuation. Let's take it even further. LUXURY properties are pretty much worth what someone is willing to pay for them. Then we have the virtually incalculable value of the Trump brand. Meaning that the properties are worth what a bank is willing to loan on them. This judge should be removed from the bench. Just another Trump deranged idiot.
