I don't know the context as I don't watch his shows on HBO.

Depends, what are the people especially the democrats of today seeking today? Benefits, security or true freedom or something else?

Democrat protected slavery existed even in the 1930s and democrats did win back then.

They can be disillusioned to believe republicans is the party that offers freedom. Where is the freedom to abort, where is the freedom to go to the bathroom satisfying your biological needs and alleviating your fears?

And by the way -- even thought the ultimate timeline collapses into one no matter who wins, try to imagine the prez of your choice winning instead of focussing on who others will vote for and make them win. J
