Ok, that made me Lol! Actually, when I think about it, the plot of Starwars is very Anime-ish. Heck I can even come up with an anime derivative of Star Wars; An anime called Lensman: www.youtube.com/watch?v=gt4XU2OQJrU Probably the first anime I ever watched as a kid. Its based on the Novel series by Edward Elmer "Doc" Smith. Came out way before Star Wars did and was three times better than it IMO. Lensman had a solid plot and interesting back story to it even if the characters were a bit blah. IP: Logged |

Because Disney will do a much better job, as will the producer/director they have chosen. IP: Logged |

Not really an anime, but based on anime / Manga. My fav. CGI / Anime duo are making another return: The trailer looks amazing though they could have picked a better back ground track (dubstep music with Appleseed? No. Just No.) The CGI looks fantastic. http://youtu.be/sNDb2J6DIwg IP: Logged |

I like females with a more aggressive and "go-get-em!" attitude. Maybe its because of own fire/air placements and the fact that I grew up with three brothers with abundant Fire placements in their charts but I like a character who is proactive, aggressive in their pursuit of their objective, strong both in mind and body and shows those traits clearly in their personality! If that character happens to be female, it makes her all the more interesting and quite attractive IMO . Hence why I like strong female characters with masculine kickass personality traits! Characters like Balalika from Black Lagoon,Deunan Knute from Appleseed and Mikasa Ackerman from Attack on Titan are the type of female characters that I like!
Ahh, that makes sense. I guess with my earth placements n having two cray cray parents, now I tend to appreciate characters that are subtle and have a kind of quiet determination n enduring strength. To me, Hana (the mother) in Wolf Children embodies those ideals. A somewhat “traditional” mother figure, that has a steel backbone. Hah, this is kinda off topic, but it reminds me of Game of Thrones, when Brienne told Catelyn Stark that she had “woman’s courage” lmao. Appleseed is good. I like Attack on Titan too but the series kinda drags on and on n I'm too impatient to follow it. I like Eren Yeager, can relate to that character's personalities.. quite hot-headed, passionate impulsive n stubborn. And I like Levi too. --
I've just recently found out that the manga Mushishi has been made into an anime series. It's really good. Often I like action anime so I thought I would find Mushishi a bit too "pensive". But yeah the slow-burn pace n mysterious tone make it refreshing n interesting. It's quite thought-provoking too.

Then you will def. love the new Anime Series entitled Black Bullet:
This anime is surprisingly good. Episode 10 really got to me. Hit me right in the ticker. It started off a bit on the meh side with a lot of implied Loli-Con / Harem-esque jokes but it has finally started to present the hard hitting questions to its viewers in showing the reality of living in a world where blind hate can lead to horrific acts of violence on the innocent. quote: I've just recently found out that the manga Mushishi has been made into an anime series. That is news to me as well! I have heard of the Manga Series but didn't know there was an anime series on it as well. IP: Logged |

Thank you for the recommendation. I'm watching it now. The art style isn't really my cup of tea but the story line sounds interesting - blind hate, yeah that's definitely something that intrigues me. Mardock Scramble - I like how they portray the main character's struggle with the effects of her horrific past. It so real it can be agonizing to watch. Dragon Age: Dawn of the Seeker is also worth watching. Mushishi was even made into a movie (it runs for a little more than two hours). IP: Logged |

I will warn you right now, if you have ANY water influence in you (besides Scorpio placements,) STAY AWAY FROM THIS SERIES! Seriously, if you happen to be a sensitive person then there will be a point in this anime where you will loath the world you live in. quote: Mardock Scramble - I like how they portray the main character's struggle with the effects of her horrific past. You know, you are the second person who recommended that series to me this week. I have to give it a go. Thankyou for the recommendation . IP: Logged |

Thank you for the warning the world has always been beautiful n disgusting. I watch shows like that to satisfy my sadistic tendencies (I have a bunch of capricorn). J.k. Yeah if you enjoy Ghost in the Shell you may like mardock scramble. A large part of the 1st installment mainly focuses on the development of the main character. The sequels pick up pace. IP: Logged |

Now to change things up from all the depressing Anime series of this year :My wife recommended this series and we both watched it all the way to Episode 11 for the past couple of nights and I gotta say, it became an instant hit with me : The series is called "Bokura Wa Minna Kawaisou." Roughtly translated, it means "We Are All From Dormitory Kawai." This show is just outstandingly funny, feel-good show of this year! Very down to earth with a lot of interesting dynamics between the different Oddball personalities of the Kawai Complex (kinda reminds me of my friends Lol!) Its kind of like the outright clash between introverts and extroverts Lol! A lot of emphasis is placed on abhorrent absurdities surrounding social norms and why being an introvert in not a bad thing . Its just way too good! Definitely recommend this show! IP: Logged |

Sorry if I have not been around here a lot these days guys and gals. Been really busy with real life stuff Lol! Anyway, being a member of the TIFF has its advantages: Yes I will have a chance to have a group discussion with the director of Ghost in the Shell; Mamoru Oshii. It should be a good experience. If you guys and gals have any questions that you want to ask him, just post away here and see if I can direct it to him. Oh and ode to one of the coolest characters in Anime history; Pretty much everything Lelouch should have been and more. Captain Harlock! IP: Logged |

I am back from the meeting! I enjoyed every min. of that interview! Seriously, the man is an inspiration! And very down to Earth. To quote him from his interview: "Technology will always be evolving. Humans don't have a choice but to adopt to it Technology has become an extension of your own body. And as such, what you do with it is up to you. You can abuse it which will inevitably cause you suffering or you can use it to enhance your life." That is exactly the reason why I chose to work in my current field. I wanted to be a part of the techno-human evolution and with my current Job, I have the opportunity to do that. Some pictures:
After the conversation, we all got to watch Ghost in the Shell on the big screen.
Interesting things about Ghost in the Shell: - The fighting scene between the Major and the Sub machine gun lacky was inspired by Mamoru's passion for Virtual Fighter . This Scene: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=w1BhezbxCPc - In the original manga, the Major had a more... Feminine body but Mamoru made her appear more masculine on purpose; As if represented her struggle to come to terms with who she is. His staff (who were mostly men) hated him for it Lol!
- Ghost in the Shell; While being Mamoru's more successful work, was taken up by him as a desperate project because he was broke Lol! Anyway, here is something cool for you guys; I got a chance to see a sneak preview of Mamoru's new upcoming project. Unfortunately I was told that there will be no recording of the trailer so I can only show you this: http://www.imdb.com/title/tt2504640/

Holy crap, is this AMV (Anime Music Video) creative brilliance or just plain insanity? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2uHRi67mlsc I've seen surreal AMVs before, but I don't recall one that seemed to surprisingly layered (gotta give it wonderfully weird points for a headbanging pigeon, IIRC) and also so...invigorating. Btw, I'm in the middle of Claymore. I wouldn't have kept up with it had it not come highly recommended to me with a question but now I've been totally sucked into it and trying to find time to watch the rest of it as quickly as I can. I thought the portrayal of criminal insanity of why one rogue (well technically she hadn't been caught at it) claymore feeling the pain of the loss of her brother was brilliant. I guess that appeals to my Scorpio Jupiter, however. The sense of sadistic evil was captured so well and then I understood all of a sudden how she got warped like that and it was a shock to me, the mix of horror and compassion I felt for her (though damn good thing she was put out of her misery like a rabid dog). Man, its been a while since I contributed to this thread. Well, now that life has offered me a bit of Breathing Room, I have partially used it to catch up on a few Anime Series that have perked up my interest. And I have a few recommendation as well for my fellow Anime fans . First up (and this will interest you a lot PixieJane,) Tokyo Ghoul: Man oh man I have nothing but good things to say about this anime. I am not usually a horror genre anime fan since most of them are nothing but hollow torture porn; Deprived of any good plots or characters. But I loved Tokyo Ghoul; Mostly interms of the character development aspect. The main character (Ken Kaneki,) starts off as such an innocent boy whose only dream with to share a life with a pretty young girl who had the same interests as him. Yet by the end of the anime, he transforms completely into a devouring monster. Its a development worthy to be compared to Michael Corleone's transformation in the God Father. Next up:
Akame Ga Kill: This anime lives up to its moniker "The Anime Game of Thrones." Simply put, you can't get attached to any given character in this series because chances are, they are going to die... With some of them dying in the most brutal, hellish way possible. The plot is compelling and there are quite a few shocking eye opening moments in the Manga and Anime (I will admit, some of them really got to me.) A word of warning: This Anime is not for the faint of heart. Next: Sword Art Online 2 (Gun Gale Online Saga: )
Ah the series that every gamer loves! Sword Art Online is a series that is very near and dear to my heart and I love the romantic struggle and eventually, perseverance of Kirito and Asuna; The two main love birds of the series. So it should come as no surprise that I was quite peed off with how Gun Gale Online suddenly changed Asuna's character around and decided to place the new female Character (Sinon) as a potential love interest for Kirito. Like Kirito man! Don't be a dog you idiot! Stick with Asuna damnit!
But objectively speaking, Sinon has all the characteristics that Asuna had in the first Sword Art online with the added past trauma burden on her character. All in all, while I like Sinon, I am not too fond with the fact that Asuna has suddenly become an invisible character in the new series. IP: Logged |

This kicks ass! Starwars goes Anime!
A short film focused on one of the Empire's TIE Fighter Squadron. Seriously reminds me of the good old hand-drawn 80s era of Anime. Looks so much like Robotech and Macross.

Otakus against Racism march in peaceful protest in Akihabara: http://sgcafe.com/2015/05/otakus-march-akihabara-protest-racism-japan/ Well... If its one thing Okatus probably understand, its the issue of being segregated and ostracized from society . But good on them for doing this. Seriously Japan really needs to get over its "Korea-phobia." And in other Anime related excursion news, Me, my wife and a friend will be at Anime North this year as part of the Fund Raiser Auction for Sick Kids Hospital. http://animenorth.com/live/ What is Anime North? Well its a purely Canadian Anime Expo that allows fans and new comers alike to get a taste of Anime and what it has to offer. Furthermore, this Expo also showcases highlights from up coming animes as well so you get a chance to see sneak previews of new and up coming anime series. And it wouldn't be an Expo without Parties, Masqurade Balls, and Showcasing of Cosplays! IP: Logged |

I grew up with Disney but I like anime much better. It all started with the DragonBall madness in my country. I liked SailorMoon a lot when I was like 8yrs old. I'm not a die hard fan of anime but I watched plenty of stuff. My absolute fav was Hellsing. I had a weird crush on Alucard (don't judge LOL) Others I enjoyed were Death Note and Fullmetal Alchemist.

I definitely grew up with Disney (Lion King was my all time favorite when I was small) But I fell into the world of anime a few years ago and you can't go back from that... I'm happy to see others who likes anime on the forum, even though my taste may be bloodier and more toward anti-hero/villain than anything elseIn my top 10 list: Tokyo Ghoul (and the sequel RE Ergo Proxy Akumetsu Trash Fire Candy (the story has been dropped makes me sad) Hellsing Dendrobates Ajin Wolf Guy: Ookami no Monshou Phantom: Requiem for the phantom I also fell into the Mahouka Koukou no rettousei light novel (much less focused on the semi-incest thing going on than the anime) IP: Logged |
