I like this song. I had it on my phone, but it's gone missing. If you like this, you should listen to Saint Raymond - Everything She Wants.

I also quite like Polica - Lay Your Cards Out (it's more eerie)

No, not possible. This thread is an open inquiry..."What do you listen to, that makes you feel better?"

I've been listening to mellow stuff lately but that doesn't mean everyone else has to like it

I'm listening to the Fields of Gold reggae version atm. I like it, but there's something in Sting's voice that I was craving...

Glad you liked Lay Your Cards Out.
I actually came across that one accidentally lol.
However, it is on my iPod along with some other greats.
Another one of my favs is by The Crystal Fighters - At Home.

^ Isn't that a great one?

T, your comment about Sting just inspired me to take a little musical tour of the 80's, revisiting songs I used to roller skate to with my classmates at skate parties.

Songs like A Little Respect by Erasure.

That wave of nostalgia carried me all the way up to around 1997, when this was a favorite...I lived in London for a little while and had this on my, ahem, walkman then...

Cocteau Twins ~ Tishbite

Good times...funny how listening to that song makes me remember long-forgotten articles of clothing that I wore and bought back then.

I hadn't heard those before Yes, funny what kind of random memories old songs can bring up.

The second song reminded me of a UK band I like and listened to a lot in the late 90's - Mono - Formica Blues album

& another fave album you reminded me of:

Police - Reggatta de Blanc

Lately, I dig Arabic music. I stumbled on this group called Let Trio Joubran on YouTube and I fall in love. Their music is heavenly

So cool. This is what I'd listen to if I ended up with a penthouse apartment in NYC with modern, super expensive designer furniture...and I'd play this at the cocktail parties I'd have for all my artsy friends.

Ooooo nice. This first song is lovely and I think I've heard it before.

A lot of VERY cool music like this happened in the 80's. It's a shame some songs have been overplayed to death, so they don't affect me at all (I just think, "Here's that stale music again...") unless I make a conscious effort to really listen...then they come alive. For me, The Police are in this category: excellent, when I put the effort in to notice.

Sting is really hot.

Faith, yeah that Mono one was their only hit over here I think. I got kind of tired of it and like the rest of the songs more.

Same for that Police album - i like the ones that weren't as popular and overplayed on the radio.

& I agree, Sting is a babe!

speaking of good 80's music:

and re: your original post

Lately I've been listening to some meditation stations on Pandora when I want some music on. Sometimes familiar music doesn't do it for me and i don't want to hear it or it just seems old and tired. Lately I don't want to be taken down different memory lanes or want lyrics involved or have my mood shifted somewhere. The meditative music helps bring a peaceful vibe and mind is more free to go where it wants, without hearing someone sing a story....if that makes sense.
