Or perhaps it isn't weird at all that a CDC trained nurse was a) in Africa helping Doctors without Borders and b) knew enough about the disease to support her claim that she is not infectious and therefore quarantine is bogus and infringes on her civil liberty?

Asymptomatic people are not contagious. New Jersey and Maine, and their respective conservative governors, sought to imprison a healthy person disregarding the facts. She is now planning on leaving Maine in protest

That was awesome. And I like knowing that other media stations can be much more responsible. I wonder if the UK system of not allowing advertising to have the power it does over the media that it does in the US (and thus it's important to glue as many viewers to the screen as possible) makes a difference?

Or it could just be part of our national character. America seems to have been much more prone to hysteria than other developed nations for some reason even back in the colonial days. "Home of the brave" is definitely a misnomer for the United States.

Btw, it even gets pointed out here how even the actual experts are telling the truth but it just can't compete against the scary music and graphics and shock tactics as well as using fiction authors as experts:

Sure, Jon Stewart is joking, but those news clips are real. That is, the media deserved that comment of "But first the weather by the writer of Sharknado."

And yes, a doctor from Sierra Leone has been flown in for treatment at one of the high level hospitals. Hardly a secret on front page news...and hardly a plot...if more African doctors can be saved and therefore immune they can better deal with their Own People than foreigners (us) whom the people mistrust.
