I vet charities carefully and they have to show signs of both ethics/sincerity and intelligent use of funds. RAINN is one of the few that has my full confidence. Many at my PTSD support group (that I've returned to recently) also praises them highly and I haven't heard one word of complaint about them from that group (unlike others I and others in my support group could mention).I should get back to donating to them. It's hard because I don't have a credit card (I use cash cards). Maybe I'll arrange for someone else to. IP: Logged |

I don't know if this one has been mentioned yet, but halfofus.com is a really good resource. Especially for teens and college students - I actually used it several years ago when I was in college. But it's also informative and friendly enough for anyone to use. http://www.halfofus.com/ Mental health issues are a reality for millions of people across the country. Young people are especially at risk, with half of college students reporting that they have been stressed to a point where they couldn’t function during the past year. The impact of mental illness is so devastating that suicide is the third leading cause of death among all people ages 15-24. The good news is that nearly all mental health issues can be improved with proper treatment. When we decrease the stigma around mental health and encourage help-seeking, we can change and save lives. Through Half of Us, mtvU and The Jed Foundation aim to initiate a public dialogue to raise awareness about the prevalence of mental health issues and connect students to the appropriate resources to get help. http://www.twitlonger.com/show/n_1sra64l A man took his own life today. This is a statement from his ex-girlfriend, and she talks about how having the authorities called on him for being at risk (in the past) scared him, because of the way he was treated. I also read about terrible treatment from a woman named Melody Moezzi. She wrote a book about her experiences. IP: Logged |

Dignity Therapy (introduced by our Canadian friends). This focuses on helping people process their feelings and thoughts about the transitions felt towards end-of-life. Clinically, is aimed at helping folks like the elderly, those in nursing-type facilities or situations, hospice. Helpful for those who are in treatments for serious illnesses. Long ago I came across an article, and thought to pull some of of the author's self-questions. Thought it might help individuals re-focus their 'frame of mind'. Help distract you. Help you get in touch with feelings and thoughts in a more lifting way. You could answer these in a journal, notebook, or piece of paper; or, get together with a friend where you each share your answers with each other? * What gives your life meaning, worth, or purpose? * Where do you find strength and support? * What inspires you? * How do you like to be thought of? * What are you most proud of? * What are the particular things you would like your family to know or remember about you? * When was the last time you laughed really hard? * Are you frightened by all of this? What, in particular, are you most frightened of? * What is the meaning of this (illness/symptoms) experience for you? Do you ever think about why this happened to you? ___________________________________________ Other websites you can explore related to this. - http://www.dignityincare.ca/en/toolkit.html - http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Palliative_care ___________________________________________ For those looking for Vocations, this is a field that may get more attention in the future? Stay safe

If you are in the United States? and are in danger because of being held hostage by abusers, there are Christian churches who have special connections with Law Enforcement, to get you OUT of your situation physically.
{Some of the more-prominent non-denominational christian mega-churches have that; and some of the United Methodists I've known. .. There could be others.} Some areas in The United States have programs with teams that respond to women receiving Domestic Violence.
