I did a free webinar last month that said people who write in a gratitude journal are 20% happier after 3 weeks. My only advice is not to lie in yours. Cause I’ve done that in the past and my life fell apart. IP: Logged |

I don't do this, anymore, but I tried one where I said that I was grateful for the bad things, too. I can't remember the name of the author who recommended it. the one thing she said she couldn't be grateful for - which is obvious when you hear it - was the death of one of her children. I tried this, within a year or two before my mum died, so that's a "nope" for me now. I used to have a great attitude about most things. I'd write about things, sorting them out in a journal, and my head. I'd think about what I could learn, or what might be a benefit from it all - even if it doesn't seem like a benefit. I wanted to be kind all the time, and dealing with harassment on at least two fronts (one online, one off), just had me saying "**** it" and speaking out more. I stopped giving everyone the benefit of the doubt. It may look better to others, it may feel better when you aren't that affected by it, so you don't need to make a big deal about it. But that isn't always the case, and I didn't see why I should remain quiet, when someone kept attacking others, and framing it as something else. Of course, some people responded to that as my being mean, rather than focusing on the problem itself, when I wasn't even mean. The people who say we should think for ourselves, didn't question someone else. I'll probably edit this part out. IP: Logged |
