Lately, I've been watching a lot of videos from a YouTuber named Daniel Mackler. He's a former mental health professional who makes a lot of videos giving his unique views on mental health topics. He especially focuses on childhood trauma. His view that a lot of normal childhood experiences are traumatic especially resonates with my 9th house Pluto that likes to explore the taboo and dark. Looking back, I can think of a few things that traumatized me. I was the dreaded "picky" eater of the family. I also had an emotionally immature mom (afflicted Aries moon) who would shame me and talk about me like a dog at family gatherings. She would also make the comment that no woman will want to cook for me because I'm such a picky eater. That planted the seed that I'm not good enough for women that still haunts me at 32. I'm bad for being my authentic self and having my own preferences. That's the message I consistently got in childhood. Most people would side with my mom and say she was right to emotionally abuse me for being stubborn about not liking certain foods. That shows how dysfunctional and abusive most family systems are.

The funny thing about my picky eating was my mom admitted I had been that way since I was a baby. Even then I'd turn my head from certain foods and would stubbornly resist any attempts to get me to eat them. That should have been a clue that that was just my nature, not some intentional sign of disrespect or lack of appreciation. Parents invalidate their kids in a lot of ways.
