http://g.co/kgs/B7NmPK Has anyone here seen the series⁉️ "THE GOOD DOCTOR" I like how they did a pretty good portrayal of an intelligent genius level autistic young surgeon😎 My husband told me to watch it because the main character Shawn seemed much like me in many ways he said😎 He was spot on😎 The show really made me feel better about my being both autistic and dyslexic😎 I usually hid my being autistic and dyslexic for about 65 of my soon to be 69 years in body until I got cancer when I was about 67 years of age. Nowadays more people are more familiar with people with autism and dyslexia. In my youth and childhood we were just considered weird or strange or even mentally retarded even though like myself with an IQ of 180 or so like Albert Einstein, being high level genius did not stop people and teachers etcetera from thinking that people like me were retarded and so we were all being shoved into the retard class as it was called in the 1950'sand 60'. I loved how the character in the series did not know how to lie and firmly believed that any lie no matter how small was wrong completely wrong and lying very offensive. I totally understood that outlook😎 I am still autistic and dyslexic but that series made me feel better about myself and gave me more ideas on how to cope with normal people. First off is to never hide being dyslexic or autistic. People need to know or else they will just think the worse of people with these conditions. There are different degrees of autism. We are not all exactly the same but in many ways are the same in how we relate to the world. I also loved how he visualized things in his mind because that is exactly what I do too😎 I wonder if Nicola Tesla was autistic⁉️ He visualized things he invented just like a high functioning autistic person does😎 Well I just wondered if anyone here has watched "The Good Doctor" too.😎

Hello Lexxigrammer and Randall!I’ve watched the series up to season 2 somewhere. The original is in Korean and being a Kdrama fan, I’ve already watched that as well. 😝 Entertainment aside, I have a considerable amount of experience with what is now termed “high-functioning autism.” In the past, the doctors would call that Asperger’s. My son was diagnosed with it after investigations into his disordered eating, that too common among autistics and is a concurrent diagnosis; almost always, people are surprised by how NT he appears. On a day like any other, he came to me with a book and started reading. I filmed him, like I did his sister, just for the family album. He was 2 years and 4 months old. At 3, he could name every country on the globe and at 4, identify the corresponding countries’ flags. He was the only child who attended kindergarten aged 4, reading fluently. By then his interest was planets. With Autism, one is either hyperlexic like my son or dyslexic like my nephew. You are either exceedingly good at math (Eg. Doing material 5 grades ahead after being taught once or twice) or hopeless at it (cannot add or subtract even in grades 4 or 5). Out of my mother’s 7 grandchildren, 4 have confirmed diagnosis. 2 don’t have diagnosis but 1 has dyslexic, which is co-morbid with ND and 1 is a lifelong anxiety sufferer (deferred study for a year to manage) which is also highly suspicious of ND. Only 1 of my mother’s grandchildren appears to be NT. At the higher-functioning end, we aren’t that visible in society. We have similar compulsive interests, sensory aversions and difficulties with interacting, but some like myself, have learnt (via a compulsive watching of Kdrama and seeing their expressions and responses) to encode the “internal computer” with suitable “social scripts.” I wouldn’t say that Autistics cannot lie, we prefer not to. My son’s sister, my daughter, has ADHD. I read that ADHD and ASD have 5 genes particular to each and 7 overlapping genes. Her father, my husband probably has ADHD and he is a surgeon. His mother also likely had ADHD; she never finished high school. He is more averse to lying than I am. His behaviour is more Shawn-like. IP: Logged |

Hello StrangeCat😎 It appears that you are much more versed in the details and nuances of Autism and other neurodivergent conditions. Did you go to college for such or are you self taught⁉️ How old are you if you do not mind telling me⁉️ As for the series The Good Doctor; I have only seen the English version. I loved it and seriously identified in many ways with the character Doctor Shawn Murphy😎❤️ Interesting that you say that autism was formerly referred to as Aspergers.😳 When I was a child and teen it was simply considered by most as mentally retarded.👽😭 Later as rude or socially inept. Most people my age (now age 69) were not diagnosed until their 59s or even 60s, or never have been officially diagnosed. Most of us did not even know there was a name for what we were afflicted with👽 until the internet👽👽👽 It has always been very difficult to be myself and relate to the world. Having an IQ of about 180 did not, and does not help me much to relate to humans in my life to date very much👽. As an adolescent I was still considered mentally retarded and put in the retarded class as it was called in the 1950s and 60s and yes even in the 1970s.👽 Having several physical handicaps added to my being an outsider and freak to most including teachers. If I were 2 inches shorter I would be considered a dwarf due to the shortness of my arms and legs etcetera. I am glad Autism is finally being recognized😎 However even that would not have helped me much due to the many other conditions of my physical being. Bad eyesight, bearded and mustached as an 8 year old female with huge breasts and club footed and scoliosis, and the list goes on. I also stuttered horribly especially after being brutally raped at age 9. Luckily I did not become pregnant despite having gone through puberty at age 8. By the time it was found that my intelligence level was high genius it was too late for me to adapt much at all. I barely graduated from high school. As for lying. I detest with a passion lying of any kind or degree!🤬 I find lying to be utterly illogical👽 I still cannot wrap my mind around lying to spare people's feelings or for any other purpose👽 I even find omissions difficult.👽 Also you said that quote:
With Autism, one is either hyperlexic like my son or dyslexic like my nephew.
. Either I am missing something or what⁉️ By your description I am both hyperlexic and dyslexic.Ah yes social cues learned but still very difficult to implement👽 It feels like a form of lying to me to copy or fake social cues that do not come naturally to me👽 I wish I had known all these things many decades ago about autism etcetera, I feel it may be too late for me to ever really know how to deal with it and the human race. It has taken me almost 2 decades to date here at Lindaland to communicate better. At least I hope I do communicate better nowadays. I have found your post quite fascinating and would love to know more.😎 I have become even more of a recluse since COVID and fighting for my life due to cancers. I no longer go around other humans unless it is for medical reasons for the most part. Too dangerous for me in my immunocompromised and extremely weakened physical condition and partial paralysis ETCETERA, and much too stressful. Thank you for your detailed post StrangeCat😎 And welcome to Lindaland 😎❤️
Please pardon any strange autocorrects and typos. My one finger hunt and peck typing and visual problems and chronic inflammatory polyneuropathy and other issues makes it hard to type and I have to too often go back up to several times to correct my posts👽👽👽 ------------------ Take a look at my LexIgramming/LexAgramming Biography Nearly 2/3 of a century to date of ♥ LexAgramming Lexperience!🔠✍️ ~I remember, therefore I am immortal~LEXX ~The present time is theirs, but the future is mine.~Никола Тесла

Hello again Lexxigramer!!! I just noticed that your name has 1 M and not two. 😁 I’m 45 but on my good days, I can pass for 15 to 18 years younger. I like to joke that the best part of being Autistic is not needing Botox because our faces hardly move! And sun-phobia to that and you will be as well-preserved as any museum artefact. 😝 Where I come from, even people with physical disabilities are hardly ever seen. Families keep the disabled indoors; those seen are roadside beggars. As late as 2020, before the pandemic, on a visit back to my home country, my BIL told me not to mention my daughter’s adhd diagnosis, such is the stigma of being different. I was bullied in primary and secondary school because I was the new kid to 5 different schools and I had no social skills at the time. The good news is that autistics are capable of using our computer-like brain to master almost anything - provided we are sufficiently interested. I learnt about human behaviour from observing the adults around me and secretly (there was no TV weekdays) watching TVB (Hong Kong series) standing on the house stairs so my mother wouldn’t spot me. I even learnt to speak Cantonese this way, since my mother refused to teach me. Heck, I even learnt Mandarin this way and from listening to others converse. I knew my mother was smart because she had skipped two grades in primary school. Even though she had 17 other siblings and lost her mother at 14, she garnered a nursing scholarship to study in the UK. She has many ND characteristics and a lifetime of difficult relationships (failed first marriage, testy second marriage, 3 out of 4 children she doesn’t get along with) that attests to that. I had no inkling I might be ND until after my daughter’s diagnosis at 14. Due to her late diagnosis, she had concurrent major depressive disorder. This lasted almost 3 years. We cycled through drugs and DBT. I heard through the family grapevine that my second sister (same mother, different father) has a son with ADD. She also has a younger son who has dyslexia, who was eventually diagnosed with ASD. Age 11, he now reads at grade level but can’t add or subtract at all. He needs help in school. My eldest sister (also same mother, different father) told me that her son also has dyslexia but she didn’t want to get him tested further. He’s attending a technical college. His sister had to defer Uni due to overwhelming anxiety. It seems that the more high functioning you are, the more anxious and prone to depression you are as well. 🤔 I attended uni in the country I now reside in. I had a tuition scholarship for the first and second year. It wasn’t what I wanted to study but my lifetime goal (up until I achieved it) was to leave my country of birth. So you could say that I did some sleuthing and connected the dots. I’ve also come across a comprehensive list of characteristics for female autistics (I will see if I can find it for you!) and identify with 39 out of a possible 40 points. I cannot drive because I see too many details. But it doesn’t matter because my life is structured for 1) downtime to stim in private 2) I know how to stim subtly 3) I avoid all things that reinforce a sense of “lack.” Since the diagnosis of both of my children (each with dual diagnosis) I have come in contact with many other ND and truly, while we have similarities, we are also very different. We seem to understand each other on a deeper level, especially where our interests overlap. Eg. Astrology. 🤓 Many of us have digestion issues - probably that anxiety doesn’t help. I have multiple allergies and have to carry an Epipen around but I don’t think about it too much. Or the meds or the doctor visits. Everything is manageable or it isn’t. I choose to just get on with it and hold out for my next “downtime” or “special interest time” (like now on LL!!!) I hope you find peace in the knowledge of your ASD diagnosis. The world is changing and there is greater awareness that we need different brains. We are all good for something - it just takes trial and error to find what that something is! IP: Logged |

Wow😎 I see many many similarities betwixt you and I😎 of course not all are happy things things but hey that is life😎 I had a very rough night so kindly bear with me. I shall reply to you in full after I try to eat something.I shall return to reply more ASAP 😎❤️ A segue for now....... Just got back from hospital to get my couple dozen blood labs done to prepare for my intravenous infusions tomorrow.😎 I have to do that for about 6 more months and hopefully I shall be cured of all cancer and or at least begin a good long remission😎 I was once very strong and could squat 600 pounds and forearm curled 120pounds and did abdominal crunches whilst hanging by my knees clutching a 90 pound weight to my chest 😎 I also did backflips and contortions😎 Then I was injured in an industrial accident and it has been downhill since then since February 1989.😭 The steroids and bad back and feet injuries caused my weight to more than double in just a few months😭👽 I have almost gotten that weight increase down but not completely yet. Ah there I go again rambling off into left field and everywhere again as usual🤣 I hope it does not drive you bonkers💙 My husband is not much older than you are😎❤️ Yes I am 15 years older than he is😎 We have much in common and he is not freaked out by me 😎❤️ We have ben together for over 27 years to date😎❤️ He has neipurodivergent issues also but not the same as mine. Okay must be off to try and eat. Yes definitely bad digestive issues especially since cancers and HAE and other issues. Yeppers EpiPen here too refilled regularly. Take care and thank you for the long replies😎❤️ Again please pardon any strange autocorrects and typos.

Thank you for the link😎 Question however since it may have bearing on my autism. I was born intersex, ambiguous genitalia. I had to have my female parts finished surgecly because things were not complete. I was able to bear a child actually nu,ber 13 pregnancy out of about 26 pregnancies or possibly more all miscarried except for one. Anyhow would not being completely psychologically female and a blend of both male and female, hence beard and mustache at puberty and stronger than most men before becoming disabled. I do not identify as female or male but androgyne I suppose would be the correct term Would I need to study how autism affects both male and females⁉️ I have never been comfortable having to choose a gender. I was given female hormones at age 8 because the doctors wanted to make my biological female gender become more complete. Well that totally backfired and there I was a real freak with as I said in another post; a beard and mustache at puberty despite the female hormones to force me into early puberty. All that did was stunt the growth of my limbs and gave me huge breasts. So in many ways autism is only a very small part of my being and my psychological issues. There I go a-rambling again🤣 I shall return😎 IP: Logged |

Yes indeed‼️ I was told that numerologically the having only one copy of the M was better 😎 I go by Lexi and LEXX and other variations at other sites😎 Used LEXX here at Lindaland for a time.😎 I also used Fayte which was my native American great grandfather's anglicized name😎 with the letter Y from my name added. He was called Fate by the family who cared for his mother who bore him whilst the Cherokee were on the Trail Of Tears in the 1800s. The variations of Lexi are due to my passion for lexagrams/lexigrams.😎✍️🔠IP: Logged |

[/B][/QUOTE] Hello again Lexxi!!! It’s about 6.04 in the morning here in Kangarooland. When I was in uni, the most famous occupant of my street was an albino Kangaroo. Anyone who is familiar with that town and that street has heard of the Kangaroo. Hence I’ve always seen being different as something to be celebrated. 😁 Do you by any chance have planets at the last 3 degrees of a sign? Are these planets at the last 3 degrees configured in a harsh aspect to your 6th lord? I’m sorry to hear of your many cancers. 🙏 Please take care of yourself. IP: Logged |

There I go a-rambling again🤣 I shall return😎
There is 1 female Autistic for every 4 male. The reasoning some have given is that the mutation is found in the X chromosome and that females have XX while males have XY. Males only have the one X so when coding is wrong on the X, they don’t have another to compensate. For either gender to be formally diagnosed, they must show very obvious symptoms. If you have your life together, doctors are loathe to give you labels of any sort. I mean it doesn’t help the psyche to consider oneself “disabled.” There is also a lot of debate about the term “high functioning” in that those whose issues tend to be less of a hinderance to daily life, want it acknowledged that we suffer from far greater anxiety and stress in order to approximate “normal.” Population studies of US, Sweden and Taiwan show that autistics are twice as likely as NT to suicide. Autistics without intellectual disability have much higher propensity to suicide than this. Also, there is a very wide difference between Autistics. As noted previously, one can either be hyperlexic or dyslexic. One can either be a whizz with numbers or hopeless with them. Have you seen the episode of The Good Doctor where Shawn has to treat an Autistic patient who is confined to bed? Actually there is more than one of those episodes. In one particular episode the parents of an Autistic patient don’t want Shawn to treat their son, because a huge part of them only know Autism to be what their son has. Their son is confined to bed, has difficulty with sensory processing (brightness of lights, loudness of sounds) and will require lifelong care. Shawn meanwhile, has supposedly grown up alone after the untimely death of his brother, gone to medical school (the requirement is a near perfect score in the country that I live in and I dare say America is the same), gone through surgical training (which is gruelling academically and physically) and excels at being a clinician. He lives independently. The patients’ parents are UPSET that their son is in that bed and not Shawn. They are upset that an Autistic is capable of what they have never seen their son do. I’ve seen this in real life so I can see why they would be. 😅 So because I appear so NT (no one can look into my brain to see the cogs turning), I hesitate to openly identify as Autistic. My close friends are aware but it’s not a big deal to them. I find it hard to openly identify as Autistic because the common perception is that we must be mentally retarded. I don’t want to have to overcome people’s perception of my ability or competence based on a label, due to THEIR IGNORANCE. Apparently the police force doesn’t allow Autistics to join their ranks. I’m sure there are other arenas of work where they say they don’t discriminate but will have a “valid” reason why you can’t join. The reason men outnumber women in terms of diagnosis is also because women, by nature, are more social; ASD is characterised as a neurodivergence that impacts the ability to socialise, among other things. So of course there are going to be fewer women than men diagnosed.😳 You can run through the checklist and see how many points you score. 🙏 I’ve met male Autistics who are as social as I am. One even acknowledged that he was “superficially” social unless it was his special interest. He works in logistics for an airline. 😁 IP: Logged |

Thank you for this new link😎❤️ and again ever so much for all the in depth replies‼️😎❤️ I went through and corrected more weird autocorrects and such in my posts and mine quoted. I hate autofill and autocorrect functions🤬👽‼️ One was weird and I was thanking you for the link but stupid autofill inserted lunch instead of link👽👽👽I am still working on replying to you in full❤️ Some days I can be very capable but other days my body betrays me and kiboshed my best efforts and intentions😭Quite frustrating to say the least🥴😠 Side note; I often log in using the satellite for Sydney Australia 😎 I like it better than my closer one😎 When I was about 9 years old my dad almost picked up and moved us all to Australia 😎 There was some program for big families to move there in 1963 or so. My family had 13 people in it total. I was the eldest of 10 siblings. People think big families are nice and fun,👽 For the most part it was a nightmare and left me with long lasting psychological scars. I have the intrveinous infusions in about 10 hours so need to rest and will try to reply to you whilst I am sitting for hours hooked up to the medicine pumps and lines in my chest port. I might try to reply more on and off throughout the night here as I have no set sleep time betwixt narcolepsy and pain etc sleep has no schedule it happens whenever😎 Fortunately I fall into REM sleep within a few seconds instead of normal time of around 90 minutes for most folks. Thank you for the well wishes❤️😎 Yes skin cancers plague me being that I am a no tanning red haired freckled person, a spotted person I like to call it😎 and then I got slapped down with the humongous uterine one of the 7 pound severely cancerous tumour👽 Glad it was all removed😎 Okay I shall return ASAP ❤️

Hey Lexxi!Hope you have overcome the latest round of chemo. How many do you have left? This is Stephen Wiltshire, an amazing autistic artist with photographic memory. When I was briefly addicted to tiktok, I had a woman popping up, talking about autism, and traits that aren't usually connected to it, but are apparently a thing. Eight out of nine things she described, were things that I could relate to, or I do. I've only skimmed that list, but I can relate to some of it. I'm sure that I'm ADHD, not so sure about autism. I press on my fingernails. I don't bite them anymore, but I push on them, and they break that way. *edited. I'm going to edit some of this, I might go through that list point by point, but I think I disassociated a bit earlier, when I was worried about my cat (he now has something going on with his right eye). I have to get back to what I was doing, I just kind of stopped functioning when I stopped to eat something. IP: Logged |

Oh, I forgot Lexxi's question. I watched the first few episodes, but stopped. I think it premiered just after my mum died. I didn't really stick with anything that started at that point, except for The Good Place.*edit. It was a year later. I was still dealing with a lot then, so that's probably why I abandoned it. Thank you for the link 😎 I shall look ASAP😎 Had chemotherapy every week from August to December 2022. Then none because I had to recuperate from the side effects of the two kinds of chemotherapy intravenous infusions until I was strong enough for serious surgery to remove the 7 pound cancer tumour etcetera. Had the surgery April 2023 and began having the intravenous infusions of the gene/biologic therapy then and will have it every three weeks if my body can handle it for at least another 6 months or so. Have to have Echocardiograms every 3 months and full body cat scans too. So as long as I do not get any weaker things should go okay and with luck I will be in a long remission or even cured😎 Still have to watch for skin cancers another issue I fight from time to time. The new treatment is made in mice spleens😳 I wonder if my long auburn hair almost to my feet will return ⁉️ I felt naked with my totally bald head and even with short hair. The worse of all of this is the horrible weakness and semi paralysis issues.😭 No fun. Hopefully the neurological damage is at least somewhat reversible 🤞😊 This past treatment has left me pretty ill though. Been pretty sick since Friday evening.😭😩🤢 Looking forward to being able to walk again.❤️ 😎 Tired of being mostly bed bound.😭😩IP: Logged |

Yes you have had some rough times for sure😭💙 I hope your kitty will be okay❤️ Sorry missed your posts before your edits. I was not feeling well since Friday's intravenous infusions.😩 You are the first person who ever sent me an e-card when I got a computer and on the internet in March 2005❤️ It is one of my most happy first memories of being here and on the internet❤️ Yeppers totally computer newbie until 2005👽 The card you sent was a sweet Halloween one❤️ I kept it a long time until that computer died👽 I might still have a copy on an old drive😎IP: Logged |

SERIOUSLY WOW😳😳😳 I read it all and pretty much relate to it all, yes it all except these things I DO NOT RELATE TO AT ALL.👽👽👽 quote: Didn’t care about her hygiene, clothes, and appearance before teenage years and/or before someone else pointed these out to her
I was a clean freak about hygiene❤️😎 I was the eldest of 10 siblings and had to be last to bathe as the well water could run out and so bathing was rationed😭👽😳 So I would go out in thunderstorms to bathe under the gutter spouts and or sneak down to the creek to bathe and or use my study halls in school or recess to go take showers in the school locker rooms. I would over brush my teeth with baking soda which led to much of my tooth enamel becoming ng damaged.👽😭 Also rinsing mouth with vinegar and salt contributed to teeth damage. I became obsessed with skin n imperfections and could make my skin and nails get damaged because I over cleaned ETCETERA. I was and still am VERY GROSSED OUT by other people's bodily odors if unpleasant even when they are honestly trying not to stink😳👽 I cannot stand deodorant etc it stinks too👽 And mouthwash smells like toxic gross rotten vegetable matter👽😳 Anyhow thank you muchly for that list StrangeCat😎❤️ I cried and smiled too and shook my head yes yes yes as I read it all, partially from relief and partially from sadness but overall it was nice and a relief to read all those things that most I could relate to very very very much😎😎😎 I wish that autism was known about decades ago because my life may have gone much better💙 Oh my on that list of 173 things I could relate to 172 of them😳👽 Some more than others but pretty much all of them. However I am very good at remembering faces. But not names of people👽😳 I can remember conversations from many decades ago but not names usually 😳👽 I thought it was from brain damage when I was hit by a car and lost about 4 years of my memories and then got most of it back after a few mini strokes decades later.
