I noticed that I have the newly named Eris conjunct my NN in Aries, 5th house. Now I know NN is the path you are supposed to take in this lifetime but with Eris being symbolized by chaos, I'm wondering what the conjunction could mean. IP: Logged |

Just go to astro.comWhen you make your chart go to the bottom of the page where you can select additional asteroids. They list the number for Eris there. I checked it for you; just type "999001" in the box and it will show you. IP: Logged |

Eris conjunct NN in Aries VH may mean that you should not back off if someone mistreats you whether it is your kids or intimate partners, stand out and make them respect you...maybe you should go in for sports or somethingThis is what I found.... ERIS GODDESS OF THE STRIFE OF COMPETITION "It was never true that there was only one Eris. There have always been two on earth. There is one you could like when you understand her. The other is hateful. The two Erites have separate natures. There is one Eris who builds up evil war, and slaughter. She is harsh; no man loves her, but under compulsion and by will of the immortals, men promote this rough Eris (Strife). But the other one was born the elder daughter of black Nyx. The son of Kronos, who sits on high and dwells in the bright air set her in the roots of the earth and among men; she is far kinder. She pushes the shiftless man to work, for all his laziness. A man looks at his neighbour, who is rich: then he too wants work; for the rich man presses on with his ploughing and planting and ordering of his estate. So the neighbour envies the neighbour who presses on toward wealth. Such Eris (Strife) is a good friend to mortals." - Hesiod, Works and Days 11 "One [Eris] is Trouble and Fighting. But the other is only Healthy Competition." - Hesiod, Works and Days 11 http://www.theoi.com/Daimon/Eris.html IP: Logged |

mysticaldream -Just want to be sure, in my own mind anyways, that Eris is reallly defined as the "Goddess of Discord", not so much "chaos". I think there might be other goddesses which come closer to representing chaos. History LOVES to pin these REALLY subtle nuances of negativity on "goddesses" rather than on "gods", or so it seems. But subtle as it may be, in my mind I can delineate between "discord" and "chaos", and it's probably important that we do, discord being a ripple in the water, chaos being the perfect storm, type-thing. I don't know if you can pick up on how subtle that is, and would love to know what you think. ------------------ ... it's better to light a candle than curse the darkness IP: Logged |

Actually, AJ, that DOES make more sense. I think with my NN (and Eris) being in the 5th house (Aries) opposite all of my Libra energy -- it's really saying to be willing to be my own person and express myself even if it creates a little discord...........what do you think?IP: Logged |

There is asteroid Chaos 19521 btw http://www.geocities.com/mahtezcatpoc/chaos.html quote: it's really saying to be willing to be my own person and express myself even if it creates a little discord
Maybe.... or it may mean that your karmic goal/path in this life may create some discord and negative consequences for others or be in opposition with their goals. IP: Logged |

mysticaldream -Yeah, I was nodding my head, you're on the right track. Basically, you are going through a struggle with "to be willing to be my own person and express myself even if it creates a little discord". That 5th House is where all the drama comes in. Look at Rick James, he had Saturn in Leo, if I'm not mistaken. He had also become very religious and cursing off anything sexual like he had been known for. Who knows what ended up happening. But we never got to see him with those two energies blended together (if only in a plastic package). If you have Opposite energies working in Libra as well, that might be the exact energy working in your Chart to get you through it. So Eris is there too. So what! ------------------ ... it's better to light a candle than curse the darkness IP: Logged |

Thanks AJ, I completely understand what you are saying and I think that's right.I didn't know anything about Rick James having a religious conversion (before his death).......It would have been interesting to see both sides in some sort of balance or as you said, the combining of both energies.......I like it! Superfreak........LOL IP: Logged |

Dont know much about Eris....How slow does it move and is it a generational planet? Mine's in Aries too. Anyone know what Eris in Aries opposite Pluto in Libra might signify? IP: Logged |

mysticaldream -hee hee ... but yeah, he was publicly out there for a little while about his religious conversion, much in the same way Prince did ... sort of from one extreme to the other, and then hopefully a happy medium. Unfortunately, I feel like Rick James died way too young. He was already a famous musician when his personal values changed. ------------------ ... it's better to light a candle than curse the darkness IP: Logged |
