Because Nessus is uncivilisized (boy, that word`s writing looks so wrong; how is it really called in English?). He acts purely on primal instinct and what he wants. There are no social restraints for him. We have certain social rules to make living with others agreeable. If a man sees a woman on the street and feels attracted to her, there are many other factors that describe if or how he will approach her. His social conditioning, social values, the risk of rejection, considering HER feelings as well and such. Nessus doesn`t know these "social rules". He sees the girl, he wants to have sex with her, he moves heaven and earth to get what he wants. Without care if it is appropriate, or what his social culture will think of it, and most of all without care about what SHE might think about it. Noone acts purely on Nessus alone, luckily we have many other planets in our chart, and we ARE subject to social conditioning. So there is an internal fight between what we want (just for self gratification) and what we know we should want or do. Usually the social conditioning holds and is stronger, as it makes living together possible. But if the Nessus is really strong, it rummages deep inside and sometimes closer to the surface than we want to know, like an animal rattling at the cage we keep it in inside. Even if we act reasonable and socially agreeable, the WANT does not fade away. And if someone else constantly pushes our Nessus to awaken, we are obsessed, because we can`t do what we really want to do. In very sad cases the Nessus becomes overwhelming and breaks free unchecked by social values and gets what he wants - and sometimes then we are looking into the face of pure evil as it seems. The very shadow side of society itself. In this case he almost has some fraternal symbolism with the vampire-symbol in our pop culture. Anyway I think that is why Nessus is so obsessed. He is convinced that he needs to get what he wants, and that he has every right to, plus he is lacking empathy for any other person. That is what makes Nessu so dangerous.

But Nessus was acting out of revenge.... [always conveniently overlooked] because Hercules killed a heap of the other centaurs. With this in mind, it's possible Nessus would create an obsession with vengeance but he's not really associated with obsession as a rule. The quindecile is connected to obsessions as is Pluto. That version of the myth is new to me. Can you tell me where you found that? There are often a lot of differences in versions of a myth. I would agree though that Nessus is a very vengeful one, as his actions show after he didnīt succeed in raping Dejanira. Even dying he acted out revenge.

Ami,thank you. Well, I think, though, that there might have been other factors in that powerful effect, too. After all most of the people born in 1974 will have their Nessus on your Sun. There needs to be some more personal powerplayaspect. IP: Logged |

Yes, I read that part as well, that Herakles killed a lot of centaurs. But where does it say that Nessus tried to rape dejanira because he wanted to take revenge for the centaur`s deaths?IP: Logged |

I agree. Why don`t you post the part you left out, where it sais that Nessus was avenging his centaur brothers? I do not mean to bother you or annoy you, but I need more information to form my conclusion.

Thanks for the links.

To accept that Nessus did it because he was attracted to her is following the same logic that the woman must have "asked for it" because of the way she was dressed. [/B]
