In the natal chart, Atropos symbolises death, the end of someone's life.

My Atropos is in 2H Taurus, and retrograde. It forms squares with my 12H Aquarius Venus & Uranus & Pallas, a quincunx with my 9H Sagittarius Pluto, trines with my 7H Virgo NN & Vertex & P Fort, a sextile with my 1H Pisces Ceres, an opposition with my 8H Scorpio Psyche & Sisyphus & Hekate, a conjunction with my Cupido, a trine with my 1H Pisces Europa and a semisquare with my 4H Gemini Hygiea.

I'm having trouble interpreting the aspects, and I was wondering if someone could help me. And I don't understand what R Atropos means at all!

Where is your Atropos, btw?

Atropos indicates endings, not necessarily physical death.

So R Atropos in 2H/Taurus means an ending of...possessions?

I have Atropos in 2nd house as well (in Aquarius, conjunct Moon).

For me it is a constant transformation of my Self and my attitude to myself, my values, how I am in relationships and so on.

maybe that link helps.

I read the article, but I still can't fully understand how I can interpret Atropos in the signs and Houses. From what I've gathered, I deal with endings in a materialistic way? I don't know

And what could Atropos Retrograde mean?

I have the Graeae stationed conjunct my Vertex axis, I believe 5h Aquarius Vertex node has Lachesis and Clotho (from the 6h Aqua) while my East Point/antivertex has Atropos on it (Leo 11th)

I tend to only look to the Graeae and "Moira" (638) in charts of passing (death charts, along with Jupiter/Pluto/Saturn). Except for having tight contact to planet, node, angle... I don't feel they have too much of a purpose elsewhere. (that's just how I use them... they had clear purposes in the mythology so I stick to associating them to what they actually held office in... the measuring, weaving, and cutting the length of the mortal's lives for Jupiter/Zeus.) Their myth isn't complicated enough to connect them to things they weren't associated with before, I believe.

You can take her name literally of course, and take it as meaning she is the inevitable/inescapable, what she connects to may be things in our lives (where she is held or touches off) that cannot be halted or avoided. Or throughout her transit, events that we come upon by "fate"...

I don't believe a natal retrograde to her would change much... she's the unstoppable one afterall... her energy may make you reflect more about the things her sisters or she had put before you, maybe make you more troubled with things that cannot be changed/avoided. But, it may make you more determined to forge your own destiny because of that constantly reflecting nature...

just some thoughts. ^^;

I kind of do, actually. I plan on opening a separate thread of this, but we can discuss it here too. I do not reject the possibility of the supernatural being real, including the existance of supernatural beings existing. I believe in the possibility of vampires, and wouldn't vampirism be a way to "stop the inevitable"? Or perhaps embrace it, and let it transform you and not destroy you.

It can be confusing, when I learned about EP/Vertex, I kept saying E.Point, thinking it was the usual name for it, but most people online seem to only use Vertex/Antivertex.
East Point is the Antivertex.

It's usually seen like a cross between the N/S nodal axis and as a second Asc/Dsc axis.

I don't really relate to it as being an ASC/DSC axis though it does represent the other spectrum of the same formula, but in my own life it's only ever played the role of being DSC/DSC but, that's the thing with it that I notice most and have yet to find a clear explanation or theory on. We have North Node and South Node which have house positions that are considered "natural" North Node is naturally domicile when in Gemini-Mercury, and South node is naturally domicile (traditional wheel), in Sagittarius-Jupiter. We have the obvious culprits in the natural order of the wheel, ASC belongs to Aries-Mars, and DSC to Libra-Venus.

But, I have yet to read anyone anywhere attach an natural order to Vertex axis. So, it's nature is enigmatic... To me it would likely place naturally in Scorpio/Taurus axis. (Maybe it's my Saturn calling, but it would make sense that each axis would have some natural "home" in the wheel. But, it leaves only 2nd/8th or 6th/12th for this axis. I use house to describe it here, because the nature of the house with nodes resonates more than the sign, the house is the actual domicile element, the nature of the nodes within and the signs are how it expresses those needs and what attributes it has by natal ruler. If that is the case, I believe the purpose of the Vertex axis fits better into the 6th/12th house axis, making it at home in Virgo/Pisces. But, whether the E.Point or Vertex goes into which sign better than the other, I have no idea... because to me both sides function similarly more than as opposition. The reason I do not feel it is at home in 2nd/8th house is because the energy of it seems more dynamic than those fixed signs would suggest. The purpose seems to lie in what is "ours" than something being "what's mine is yours, what's yours is mine" like Taurus/Scorpio axis would have. It is my experience and after reading research Lotis and others here have done or suggested for reading on the axis that the Vertex is a harmonious axis for everyone. Where Asc/Dsc axis has a more contentious energy that needs to be harmonized, and does come with "hidden foes", like Scorpio/Taurus houses have involved as well. And, in my own experience, those who aspect my Vertex have been brought in as friends of all walks of life and duration, where ASC/DSC stays with you throughout life, progression... the nature of a DSC is contractual (commitments/partnerships/business)... but, Vertex axis moves much more frequently, and maybe Ceri could help here too, as I've seen it used in the harmonic charts she's shared quite often, so it's purpose may be something/somehow cyclic with pattern and importance. It also seems to be more spiritual in essence than physical (ASC/DSC axis being physical manifestations of ourselves and our relationship with others). The Virgo/Pisces axis Mercury-Neptune energy would speak more to the spiritual side of this axis than Pluto-Venus, which are again, more concerned with the physical (by looking into their natural houses). But, Mercury and Neptune stretch through life/death equally. By house the 6th contains, of course career (so casual partnerships/routine partnerships), health (perhaps with Vertex spiritual health), and even nature (animal) relations... the 12th holds importance within spirituality itself, mental health (mental spirituality?), the unknown, and where the end becomes the beginning and the circle becomes complete... (among other attributes)

My vertex/EP "antivertex" is in Aqua/Leo (5th/11th), I've met far too many people who make tight contact to these nodes to count, and continue to meet people who make contacts there regularly. Sometimes they effect you in a profound way, sometimes it is as though you are both wondering in different directions but have that strange, chance meeting in the middle, and just for a moment, before going on your separate ways. But, for just a moment, ever so short ever so subtle, somehow those meetings or experiences help change you, sometimes renew you. (I'm a pretty big fan of Vertex axis contacts, but you can probably guess that! lol) ^^:

There could be more interpretations out there, but as of yet... I've not found a very definitive example of its purpose entirely, or a domicile placement.

I do like the article here (perhaps you've already read this one? idk.) ^^

7th house IS in the Western hemisphere.
(this relates to houses, not signs).

houses 4,5,6,7,8,9 belong to the WEstern hemisphere, and the Vertex will always fall there.

East Point is the Antivertex.

(Sorry for derailing off topic here, Stella!)

I'm told East Point is square the MC, and my Antivertex certainly doesn't go anywhere near squaring such. Astrodienst had some option somewhere back in the day that even listed my EP as being just that, square the MC, 2 Cancer, so I don't hold with EP being the same as the Antivertex-Vertex angles. My Vertex is 19 Sag, nowhere near such. East (and West) Point would be another "angle" thing and not related to Vertex AFAIC.

As for whatever it might do or not do, I wouldn't have a clear view on since if it's square MC in any case, those seem to mix. Especially when my Draconic Sun is opposite my East Point, square MC, so other things influence that as well.

"The East Point is the 1st house cusp using the Meridian House System" is said elsewhere on LL. As for my not considering the AVX and EP the same, that's based on what I read from a book (that featured both) well over ten years ago, so I haven't looked into what the Net says these days.
[URL=http://www.lunarplanner.com/ArgoNavisPublications/StarChartPersonal/STInstruction.html]http://www.lunarplanner.com/ArgoNavisPublications/StarChartPersonal/STInstruction.html[/ URL] seems to talk about both EP/WP and AVX/VX as well though, but the terminology doesn't seem to clarify it much at a quick glance. They may hit the same spots in charts not as Northern or Southern as mine, where ASC and MC are closer to being square already as it is, but otherwise I wouldn't consider them the same.

"The Equatorial Ascendant (East Point) can be found by following an Earth meridian to the Ecliptic. The Vertex can be found by following a Horizon Plane meridian to the ecliptic. Thus, the East Point is common to Earth's equatorial plane, whereas the Vertex, being an orthogonal projection from the Horizon Plane, is common to our personal plane, somewhat removed from or transcendent to the Earth plane, that is, more realated to the person and other people rather that Earth experience itself."

Likewise, apologies for possibly unrelated matter.

As for Atropos, I have nothing that wouldn't come from online searches either, hence having refrained from commenting thus far. Mine's at 11H 9 Gemini so the Sabian symbol is a bit dreary (Airplane and nosedive, possible crash), but even though it's directly opposite my Neptune there as well, I haven't delved into further possible symbolism for the three fates or whatever you called them. It's between my name asteroid and Psyche with a lot of other things, so theoretically interesting, but beyond mythology searches I don't have much interesting to offer on Atropos.

In geography, yes.

But not in a chart.

The Sun rises at the ASC (Sunrise - east), then moves over the MC, where it is at its highest point (zenith - south), sets at the DESC (Sunset - west) and moves through the IC, where it is deepest night and the sun is unseen (night - North) back to the ASC.

So it technically is the other way round as we are used to.

omg this explains so much... lol.

First, you get to know yourself (ASC), then you go out into the world and create a solid place for yourself in society (MC), then you find a S.O. and create a relationship with them (DSC) and finally you create a family together and settle (IC).

It's so obvious, but hey it's a good reminder.

This caught my eye and remind me that I have ATROPOS conjunct my composite ASC - EXACT

According to DarkStar Astrology, this could mean a number of things.

"I was surprised how much Atropos cropped up in what I considered decent soulmate relationships, it tended to be in soft aspect though. There is obviously a karmic theme. Maybe the partners become each other’s drug and refuge, or they help each other out of toxic behaviour. Depending on the planets involved, one partner could feed off the life-force of the other and be too much of a drain. Synastry connections to the Davison will help determine which partner is the vampiric Atropos. If the connection is made conscious however, the “Life force” partner could actually heal and transform the “vampire” with love. The couple must be very aware and evolved though, in order for this aspect not to descend into co-dependency. Another possibility of course is Atropos will show how the couple finally part."

Asc @ Virgo 22.43
Atropos @ Vir 22.43
Prosperina @ Vir 23.23
Osiris @ Vir 24.0
Apollo @ Vir 24.9
Sun @ Vir 24.35

Given that I have some nice asteroids and Sun in the vicinity, what could Atropos mean here?

Just noticed that the night I lost my ex:

4 Pisces tr Atropos
4 Pisces tr Sun

So, looking into Moira as well, since I saw Saturnine Moth mention it:

12 Virgo tr moon (I realized this all at once, that I had to move on.)
12 Pisces composite Moira-Pholus

19 Virgo tr Moira
19 Virgo, my natal Juno
19 or 20 Virgo, his natal sun (no birth time)

15 Cancer pr comp Atropos
15 Cap, my natal sun

---

Also, tr Atropos conjunct my father's sun exact when he died. Moira was transiting conjunct his ASC.

Sorry to be morbid but the precision with these asteroids never ceases to amaze me.
