Yes, I find that important, too.
She fell in love with Narcissus, and only with Narcissus, and she would not yield to anyone else (in most versions of the myth at least).
Even when he rejected her, she was still kind of around and when he fell in love with his mirrorimage, repeating the words he wanted to hear from his loved one, never realizing that it was her who spoke.

Also it robs you of the ability to engage in character assassination the way you want to. That would be a real pity, wouldn't it? It is said that Narcissus had a twin sister; they were exactly alike in appearance, their hair was the same, they wore similar clothes, and went hunting together. The story goes on that Narcissus fell in love with his sister, and when the girl died, would go to the spring, knowing that it was his reflection that he saw, but in spite of this knowledge finding some relief for his love in imagining that he saw, not his own reflection, but the likeness of his sister."

So that's problematic for translating the myth into astrological significance, because one's Echo can be conjunct key planets and points in multiple synastries at once. My Echo is conjunct my brother's sun. It is conjunct my friend's ASC. And so on. Incidentally, I echo neither of them more or less than anyone else I know: they say some things I wholeheartedly agree with. They say some things I disagree with and I will tell them that just as readily. *shrug* IP: Logged |
