Hi!!!I personally find name asteroids to be very accurate. I have my first name in my 2nd house opposing my Venus and my last name inside my 1st house conjunct my AC by 2 degrees. I usually use my surname asteroid because that’s what I found to be the most accurate in my readings (synastry, composites etc) also my surname is not a common one, I barely know anybody who has this name. If for example you can’t find your specific name asteroid in astro.com I would recommend looking for something that sounds similar. Example: if your name is Erica, you could use Erika, Ericka... whatever option is available. For one of my friends, his last name is Beckham, there is no Beckham in astro.com but instead I was able to find Beckman. Sounds similar and falls right next to one of his angles/axis conjunct his AC ruler.

I've always felt like my first name is a burden. I looked it up in my chart; guess what? It's conjunct Saturn lol. The name that I do love for myself is conjunct the DNA asteroid too. IP: Logged |

You made me curious to look up the degree symbol for my name too lol. I picked Kozminsky's symbol because it fits: " A horse's hoof, winged, crushing a butterfly." How lovely. ;P

More problematic is if there is variations of potential name asteroid, but not the name simply itself. made-up example, with the name Toby: Tobybowers, Tobyrueter, Tobyrichie,Tobypalm, etc. I haven’t known for the life of me which one to choose!!IP: Logged |

I don't have one with just my name (Angela), but there were others, like Angel, or Angelina. I can't remember where they show up in my chart. IP: Logged |

I don't pay much attention to name asteroids, but I have noticed some interesting connections that feel like more than mere coincidence. My name asteroid is Nadezhda, of which Nadja is a diminuitive form. Nadezhda is conjunct my Moon in the natal chart. My mother's given name, as well as a pet form of her name, are both conjunct my Jupiter. Both my grandmothers' family names conjunct my Sun. And so on... IP: Logged |

Vansio… -- try your 'middle name', or a nickname you socially were known by?Moonbeth! {{ }} Nadja! WOW--- To others-- Fascinating replies!! JoJo, THANK YOU for the Sabian website. *~ I have two spellings of my first name. One is wide my Sun Gemini H6taur .. The other is in H(9) in exact-square to my Sun. One original name my mother had wanted for me is exact-conjunct my Chiron, trine Sun. Another choice {an RC music saint}, was conjunct yet-another spelling derivative of my name-- in Leo sextile the Sun. So... Regarding the name that is in the '9th House'. Sabian Virgo "8" … *jawdrop* STORY--- When I was a kid, I used to imagine myself as a dancer. Even had a series of nightdreams where I had lived as a member of a ballet troupe {under grueling conditions!!.. I don't remember dancing, just the stress of waiting together, for travelling!!} I would LOVE to have had my interest indulged then, when I was a child. Instead, I was terribly criticized-and-shamed for my "fantasy-dancing" by my dad and 3 ~rowdy younger brothers. Especially remember the 'final' time I tried making 'ballet movements' on the front lawn. Never again. Their teasing me was sooo crrru'elll! *smile* I think maybe I learned how to be afraid and clumsy and self-conscious from all their teasings? Was officially superb at team-athletics, *thumbsup* Was a force to be reckoned with on the fields. Those sports required intuitive spontaneous movements that bypassed 'thinking'. However, I was terrible at any kind of 'solo' sports. Or needing to move my body in front of others, who were watching the performance. I sang in the chorus of an opera once. A terrible flu outbreak took out 14 of our chorus members; 8-fairies from the chorus were coupled to do a woodland dance onstage. I was 'forced' (*smile*) into learning the dance movements hours before the final performance of the season. OMG!! I did it. I really really did it-- and I still shake thinking of it!! LOL #The Show Must Go On! *grin* I had an uncle who competed and won awards in "ballroom dancing" in the city he lived in. He was GREAT for my inner-self.. He INSISTED I get up and dance with him once, when I had visited him as an adult. Took the family to a high-scale restaurant that had a beautiful golden-oak natural-wood dance floor, with a live band that night. He confided later that (at first) he had 'believed me' when I kept refusing his invitations to dance all evening, for the reason that I thought I was a terrible dancer?.. So at one point near the end of that evening, he gallantly commandedly motioned to take my hand, then swiftly, gracefully, glided me onto the beautiful dance-floor. He remarked with surprise how easily I followed his "leads." Then he said-- my 'problem' was that I had never had a "partner" who knew how to lead. .. *melt* LOL. He has a Cancer Sun conjunct my very early Mars Cancer H7gem. *~ Spelling-Variation of Name-Asteroid in 7+ degrees of Virgo {whole "8"} --- is in the "?intercepted?" sign of Ninth House LEO. Wow... Even THAT sense of interception fits that energy?! {Venus is in Taurus 5th} - http://www.jamesburgess.com/first-dancing-instruction.html quote APPRENTICESHIP Putting aside the ego in order to sit at the feet of a master is a requirement for self-optimization "Dance" is a way to develop and express feelings in a controlled way. It is in a *community setting* and so not unbridled, yet it is emotionally expressive, so not a denial of life-force. This is emblematic of the journey we must take if we are to find freedom and realization, and typically this requires that we find a teacher-- one who can show us what higher states are available to an initiate. end/quote So.. omg.. SUCKED at *Jazzercize* classes!!! ~oy LOL humiliating. *laughs at self* (music) child dancing lead role of 'The Nut Cracker' (P. Tchaikovsky) [1:17] http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lJKwrk2o5DQ
(music) I Hope You Dance (Gladys Knight, 2012, w 'ice dancer') [4:01] http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YonlJfxk4Rw IP: Logged |

]Originally posted by Moonbeth: "]Nothing I read pointed to those having specific meanings (such as other asteroids, unless your mum named you Chiron and then, ok, your named asteroid is a thing in itself) and most of them have quite common given names so... is it even astrology to take those into account?"most of the meaning of the planets come from their mythological stories ,so should we take those into account? "I mean, I don't have one with my exact name, so what should I do, pick the closest option and call it relevant? Just pick any asteroid and see what it touches and decide whatever it means? " if you play with asteroids you will get no meaning from them.you have a standard model mind set. this means you believe in gravity and the standard sciencfic model. to understand the asteroids you need to adopt a quantum mechanic mindset. some say ,well asteroids are just dust so they can't have any affect. but this shiows that you believe that astrology works because of gravity. th dsut can't have any affect compared to a planet. but no one knows why astrology works in the first place....so how can one say some parts of astrology don't work. the ascendant and midheavem, sabian sy7mbols,Arabic parts ,nodes, lilith are just some of the symbols that are basically mathematical...yet they have been used for in some cases thousands of years. "And I don't mean that in a judging way, I mean this in a frightened way as astrology already has enough of a poor reputation without needing to make it come off as some way to predict people's hair texture or income. So, how do named asteroid "work" (if they do)?" in quantum theory there is a concept called non locality. this means that every bit of matter in the universe is connected to every other bit of matter. there is no distance between you and me because we all are connected to the same quantum matrix. some even believe that qualities of lifes are described by the quantum theory. without going into more obscure thoughts, just consider the thought that for every question you have, the answer is already existent. as soon as your pose a question the answer is also formed. applying this to asteroids , when you SINCERELY seek a asteroid that reminds you of the person you are wondering about or even about yourself...then the asteroid you pick will be correct. I have never seen an asteroid not "work". I have read books on asteroids and one does not have to have an exact letter for letter correlation. masculine or feminine form will work, for instance Victoria works fro victor even though there is no victor. in addition words or names with the same consonant structure will work. just as Hebrew and ancient Egyptian did not write the vowels, so in choosing a asteroid, the vowels to not have to be exactly the same. but it is even more basic that these rules. if a person has a nickname, that reminds you of them, that will work. it is only important that the name you use reminds you of the person. "It sounds like some desperate attempt to find and see meaning where there's only hazard." for instance I did a some work of a woman some years ago and I suggested she use named asteroid. it was a little strange because she was asking about her lover ,who told her, he was attracted to her because she reminded him of his mother. at first glance, i though this is a psych case and not really astrological question. but I finally interpreted for her. as there were no asteroid with her lover name or his mother's name, I told her to just find a asteroid that reminds her of them, don't worry about the exact name.
she choose amore for her lover... okay. for his mother she picked a asteroid, I can't remember exactly but it was something like coldhearted,(I have this chart on file somewhere but I can get to it now). well when I looked at his chart ,her named asteroid was conjunct the node and coldheart was also conjunct the node and amore was also conjunct the node!!!!!!!! so instead of writing this off as some oedipal complex, it seems that karmicaly she was very similar to his mother and that there was a "higher "reason for their relationship. I finally advised to go on with this relationship. without the asteroids I would have told her he was a psycho and to get away. I never did get any feed back so I don't know the outcome. but thisfis an example of how asteroids can be used if you sincerely are looking for truth. todd ]

Laughing! You've got faith, Randall!!! James Burgess Sabian Website-- I was doing some research the other day. He has started posting youtubes of the Sabians. He does a Beautiful job!! Found out he is older, and from a Sufi background. If you go to the website JoJo provided, and scroll to the bottom of the page, find the youtube glyph and click it. It will open the youtube channel. He's a Sun Mars Moon Taurus with a Capricorn Asc. Nadja .. Your name means "Hope". Nadja said, "Both my grandmothers' family names conjunct my Sun." Nadja, MoonMystic, and all-- Interesting about name-asteroids and family synastry. BOTH of my grandmother's names are conjunct my 7+{8} Sun, also! Scorpio Grandmother (paternal) is Gem 8.33 Libra Grandmother (maternal) is Gem 9.15 3288 Seleucus Gemini 8.53 = {favored heir, patron of ancient tried and true culture/wisdom} Early in my introduction to astrology, I read that Sagittarius Rising folks are usually highly favored by their grandparents. *true* I also have 2212 Hephaistos Gem 9.58 near my Sun. Is an indication of rejection by the mother.. which was also very true. I'm a Survivor. My grandmothers BOTH offered to take over the task of raising me (in my earlier childhood), as they could observe my mother's lack of nurturance or any interest in me. (She very much favored her 3 sons-- but not a daughter. awwwww.) .. Unfortunately (for me) one November when I was 7 1/2 yrs old, my parents relocated 400 miles out of State, and in doing that, I lost my only-allies. It also shifted my IC from Aries, to Pisces ~22+. {?my IC/home-belonging was to the Cosmic Sea and Universe?} I have a {trad.unaspected} Sun Gem H6taur trine Chiron Aqua H2cap. H2 is among other meanings, the house of self-esteem. In these past weeks, it's been like having a Life Review. Transiting Chiron retro in Aries is conjunct my IC. Beautiful time for Healing and processing what had gone on in the home, and the early psychological underpinnings of the chart. {Retrograded to H3, and will turn direct in a few weeks, to cross back into H4 in the next months.} Astrology is amazing. New Moon Sag 4.03 is in a few more hours, Today! It's in my H12 scorp. Is across from my Sun Gem, just below Descendant. Is sextile MC Libra 2.30. .. excerpt .. "Chiron's wound was rejection (by parent), and abandonment." "Brought up by Apollo (expert in medicine, music, arts, and all treatments for body and soul); practical 'here and now'-- learning by doing. .. finalizing our knowledge to be transmitted after 'elaborating and integrating it' personally, recognizing thus the value of our 'diversity' and individuality, and so 'creativity'." REF. Milla Basson, {Chiron} - http://www.astro.com/astrology/iam_article180215_e.htm I have 1862 Apollo 28.37 Leo H9 {..songs, music, 'the arts' in-general} conjunct 208 Lacrimosa 28.13 {aww, sad songs say so much?} with 37452 Spirit Leo 27.03. and h42 Zeus Leo 27.41 {enthusiasm! *grin*} Have a Great Day, and New Moon Sag!
