Hi Candisces-

I have heard a lot of good things about an herbal supplement called Herpanacine formulated by Dr. Wayne Diamond. I suffer from a variety of skin conditions myself, and just started this product. I am keeping my fingers crossed.

I tend to believe that skin problems, including acne, are linked to our emotions. Acne can be symbolic of psychological erruptions we are not facing internally. Sometimes when we avoid dealing with problems or feelings they will manifest in a physical manner.

What do you think?

When I was a teen, I used to slather aloe vera all over my face before I went to bed. The aloe moisturizes your face so your face gets the signal to produce less oil. It has anti bacterial qualities, and bacteria are responsible for alot of pimples. And whatever else it did,I don't know. I just know my pimples went away, and my skin was soft and clear. I recently started doing it again even though I am older now, because I remembered how I liked the soft skin. Hope you try it- it really helps!

Hiya Candisces

i think MercurialMisfit is right - acne is linked to the emotions (as i can testify!). But the thing is that your emotions affect your body in strange ways. For example, often when we are stressed the body's ability to cleanse toxins from our blood is reduced - these toxins are then stored in our liver/kidneys/skin - and result in acne.

i've had acne for about two years now (and i went through adolescence without pimples!) - that resulted from stress. My suggestion is that you see a naturopath (Herbal healer) - because one of the best ways to know EXACTLY what your body needs is to get your eyes examined.

Other things that may help are drinking grapefruit juice (Which helps cleanse your kidneys and digestive system).
Steam bathing your face (Or effected area) before you go to bed (This helps open pores and cleanse old oil and dirt from them).

And most importantly: Stop worrying! Take the time out to meditate/do yoga/exercise - you'll feel so good you can stop worrying about your pimples!

Love and best wishes

oh great info about the aloe vera! I am going to try that. I normally have very clear skin but lately my chin, only my chin, is just exploding! UGH!

I agree with the emotional aspect too... *sigh*

Wow Nebel-

I am just like you- I went through my teen years with a glowing complexion. Then in my mid twenties I started breaking out constantly. My skin completely changed. I now have an oily forehead and chin, and dry cheeks and eyes!!! AND ZITS. YUCK.

I have been under an increased amount of pressure the last few years as I have had a really tough time adjusting to adulthood...
I can't help think that my acne is related to my emotions.

Hi everyone,
I'm pretty much over the acne age, thank god , and I definately agree with the emotions playing a big role in an 'outbreak'.

Louise L. Hay , in her brilliant book "You can heal your Life" says of acne:

"Not accepting the self. Dislike of the self.
The affimation that she recommends to say to yourself is:
"I am a divine expression of life. I love and accept myself where I am right now."

Another explanation from Annette Noontil from the book " The body is the barometer of the soul" says,
Acne results from "Thinking that you do not want to face up to new things. Living in the past."

An acne outbreak may also be due to sluggish kidneys, as the skin is known as the third kidney.

Hope this helps

Hiya MercurialMisfit

Sounds like you and i are in the same boat!
My best suggestion to you, like i said, is to see a naturopath. The guy i have been seeing the last few months is an absolute ledged (Thanks Gerry!! ). He said that the two main reasons i got acne (even though i didn't have pimples during my teens) was my sluggish kidneys and my emotional problems. The funny thing is that my emotional problems were linked to a hormone imbalance which (Surprise, surprise) was linked to me being on the contraceptive pill since i was quite young.

I hope you find a solution soon
Love

Wow Nebel- your post is so familiar. I have been seeing a naturopath. She is amazing. I just moved to the West, so I have to find a new health care provider...

I have another skin problem too and belong to a support group on line. It is one of those horrible 'don't know why it is caused, don't know how to cure it' problems that doctors don't know how to handle. Other people in the support group think it is hormone linked...Who knows?

I am such a sensitive person. I absorb the emotions of everyone around me...and I feel like my skin has become a dirty sponge because of years and years of taking on too many of other people's issues...

I just don't know! I just wish it would all magically disappear.

HI, no I haven't had a chance to get any aloe vera gel but I am still planning too. No what I did was, my best friend had the same thing happening and so we did a banishing/return to sender spell and the next day, 80% of them were gone and they were completely gone by the second day.

So I am a happy camper.
