I don't believe it is something you can mix up yourself, like vit. oils and such.. I believe suncare is so specialized and important, that experts need to formulate it for you.
So.. rather than making your own, trust that it is a physical ( so not derived from harsh/strange chemicals.)Therefore, it is better to go with a brand.
It is a pretty new technology. Zinc used to be mainly coloured block. This is so small it is unseen, and easily adaptable by all skin types, yet effective.

Anyone have any tips for whiter teeth???

I recently (almost 2 1/2mo ago) quit smoking. I know teeth are natural slightly tinted yellow, but ... after smoking for 12yrs...I need to "brighten" mine up(omg, i didnt realize its been that long)Granted my mandatory cup of coffee in the morning isnt helping. But i do drink water after my coffee.

So, besides those super whitening tooth systems ... (which not only removes the stain but slowly removes the enamel as well - so ive heard!!!)what others home remedies and tricks do ya'll have???

I have tried the baking soda and hydrogen peroxide .... its kinda helps but wondering if theres anything more faster!?!?!

What vitamins and supplements are good for the teeth (not so much for whitening; unless there is something , but for over all health???

I like Arm and Hammer's Peroxicare toothpaste. They have one called Advanced White--but I didn't like it. It's about $2 a tube at Walmart. It was about $2.50...so the price fluctuates. It makes your mouth feel real clean and will lighten your teeth some.
I've never checked out the cost of getting them bleached at a dentist...but maybe it really isn't that bad.
Calcium is the most important for teeth...but you need to have your calcium and magnesium balanced. Some take it together...but I read where it is better to take your calcium during the day and your magnesium at night. Magnesium will help you get to sleep--400 mgs. And Twin Labs brand was recommended to me by a nurse practitioner. Of course you can get calcium from food sources.
I've noticed that if my calcium level gets depleted I get abscessed gums. I had to stop drinking carbonated beverages. (Just have a natural ginger ale once in awhile.) And when I get my calcium level built up the abscesses heal. The dentist will want to just yank out a tooth if the gum is abscessed--but I know from experience they can be healed. There are some medications that leach out the calcium from your system. One is Ultram, a pain reliever. This isn't cited anywhere--I found out the hard way. Good luck at getting your beautiful smile!

I use Henna liquid color on my hair (auburn) and it gives a lovely shine as well as a rich red shade. For whiter teeth, try baking soda and a few times a week I brush teeth with a couple of drops of tea tree x

Can I ask where you get the liquid henna? I tried that powder stuff a long time ago and when I went to get my hair cut the stylist said that it had a green cast to it. I didn't use it again.

Stay out of the sun at its peak times!
Wear sunglasses with uv protection.
Eat raw green veggies.
Sit on floors or hard chairs more than on cushy furniture.
Fidget! Like when you watch a movie or tv....
sit on a low chair without a back, or on the floor. Fold your arms across your chest..and rock during the entire time you are goofing off! Lean back as far as you can and to the sides. Do it slowly. I am still a fat woman but my abdominal and obliques are rock hard under the fat...because of these reverse sit-ups fidgeting! If you are on the floor..try doing the splits, and touching your toes. Soon you will be able to do the splits! Also it takes more effort to get up from the floor than from a couch.
Ginger/garlic/hot pepper flakes/parsley in broth or chicken soup for head colds and stomach flu.
Peroxide to whiten teeth, clean ears out.
Beer or vinegar to rinse hair for shine.
My hair is worry free and 4 feet long!
Baking soda in the bath. And to brush teeth, then use the 50/50 peroxide.
Neti pot for the nose and sinuses..to flush with salt water.
Moisturize your skin.
And SMILE!!!!!!...even if it is just fake..it still exercises your face in a good way!

I forgot about this string!

It's a goodie!
I think I have a few more to add (this is stuff that I do, and have been doing for a while):

*Go Raw~ raw food is a miracle

*Shampoo less~ I seriously mean it

*Use a natural tooth paste, without flouride & eat plenty of apples and hard nuts for healthy, strong teeth and gums

*Buy organic dried fruit, most packet dried fruit contains sulphur dioxide

*A green smoothie in the morning takes away snacking cravings in the evening

*Use a natural moisturiser as a shaving aid and don't use harsh soaps or chemicals

*Buy a spray bottle, add water and fresh aloe gel to spray on self during dry wheather or air-conditioned offices, keeps skin really lovely (but only do it if you don't wear makeup...if you do wear make up, stop wearing make up!)

*Put a fresh plant in your office to purify the air around you

* I have my own solution for white teeth ~ don't drink alcohol, coke or coffee, don't smoke, drink herbal tea only, and eat plenty of crunchy fruits and vegetables including nuts, seeds and sprouts.

I've found a new product line that I love! I swear my skin has been extra *glowey* since I've switched to it.

Also... I haven't had any black-heads on my chin (which has always been a problem for me) since about 3 or 4 days into using it.

Desert Essence Thoroughly Clean Face Wash
with Organic Tea Tree Oil and Awapuhi

Here's the ingredients in the face wash:

castile soap, olive oil, coconut oil, organic tea tree oil, extracts of matricaria (Chamomile), goldenseal, awapuhi, bladderwrack, essential oil of palmarosa, petigrain, organic lavandine super and pepermint oil

Natural Facial Cleansing Pads with Tea Tree Oil

pad ingredients:

witch hazel, organic grain alcohol, tea tree oil, organic calendula, organic chamomile German, orgaic lavender spikes , organic lemon grass oil, extracts of chamomile, goldenseal, awapuhi, bladderwrack & neem oil.

It all sounds good to me. I was a little put off at first by the alcohol... but it doesn't seem to be drying my skin out at all.

There's a moisturizer that goes along with this line, but I haven't tried it yet. I'm still only about half way through my Oil of Olay moisturizer.

Once it's gone though... I'm SO getting the jajoba moisture cream!

What do you think about that ingredients list, Pix Pix?

"Anyone have any tips for whiter teeth??? "

Try brushing with ... are you ready for this?... baking soda and salt (DON'T SWALLOW!).

Too much peroxide can make your teeth more porous, which in turn makes them more sensitive.

I love that you asked me what I think of the ingredient list... as i was reading it, I went "OOh, good! Uh huh.. yep... Ooooh"
I approve
Chamomile can be lexied to indicate 'calm' among other things.. and that is how it acts on the skin... so thats good. Lots of natural pH cleansers utilize coconut oil.. it is a great natural substance, used for centuries!!! it respects the lipid balance of the skin as well.

I googled organic grain alcohol and found the following properties... http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ethanol#Physical_properties
It's actuially interesting reading...
